Next up on the mighty Heist Recordings is a classy collaboration EP from NYC heads @JKriv, of Razor-N-Tape fame, and @petermatson, front man of the excellent Underground System who have drafted in some of NYC's most talented players to bring it to life. As you would expect from this fully loaded team of artists and producers the 'Bigtime' EP is outrageously hot. 

To celebrate the EP landing Peter Matson jumped behind the decks to record a real barnstormer of a mix for us combining his own tracks with tracks from the new EP and some of his favourite tracks from his recent DJ sets. @dj-rocca has been a regular feature here at LV online over the years. He's a DJ and producer who wears many stylistic hats, all of which are connected by his love of funk. Whether it's straight up disco, percussion driven house or synth led Italo, it all has that undercurrent of 'if it's funky it goes'.

His latest release see's him land on @soulclaprecs's immaculately compiled album Italo Funk 2 featuring 10 Italo gems from the likes of Rollover DJs, Coccoluto, Lele Sacchi and Capofortuna. 

DJ Rocca's Don't Be Worried is one of the stand-outs on this excellent release so it's our pleasure to have him drop in with a mix for our Disco Selectors series where he keeps that Italo vibe going beautifully. Medlar is one of the underground hero's of the UK electronic music scene. An artist whose releases are consistently out of the top drawer, he is back again this week with a brilliant new EP 'Interrupter' via Jimpsters Delusions of Grandeur label. From deep instrumental club groove to Balearic house and onwards to 90's NYC cool it's an EP which touches on many different strands of house music but which ties together beautifully, A stunning release.

Downtown Groove Sessions 111 w/ Simba

Just got back from Houghton Festival in Norfolk. What a weekend, what a festival. Beautiful setting, in the grounds of Houghton Hall, half of it set in a meandering forest next to the main site (a little like Lost Village, if you've ever been to that).

Obviously the heat made things a bit trickier than normal. It was so hot during the day, a lot of the daytime DJ sets suffered somewhat, including this one. Everyone was so baked, they were permanently chasing shady spots. Really enjoyed playing, but an audience was hard to come by, during that period of the day. Managed to fill the tent twice (and then empty it twice!). I'll post my other set up in a bit: that was a completely different story!
