Selectors Disco Mixes

I will always remember those moments at the Nomads festival when Red Greg would close down the Lumberjacks in Hell stage and time stood oddly still, the sunset behind the trees and a warm breeze driving through the crowd. After several hours of dancing, everybody on the dancefloor was familar with each other, the first five rows or so anyway. I remember Rahaan, Mendel, Dieuwer, Robbert, Sam and Bram of course, Kim, Chiara... and Ben! 
The thought ringing through my head, this is as good as it gets. No matter where else you chose to travel to, this is the perfect moment and nothing could make it better. 
All of these Nomads days and nights merge into each other, not least because we had Darren celebrate with us somewhere around 2-4 times. One year it was Sylvester's - Over & Over at ten to eleven, the second last song of the day, that captured on video, encapsuled every emotion that needed to be captured.
I am not able to recall all of the music from those sessions. I remember his legendary blends that have lead you into the next epic groover long before you even realized it's a new tune. Never missing a beat and forever leaving you with a smile and a "damn" on your lips. 
Where did that coming from and how much higher can we go?

Up next on the Guest Mix, we have a very special mix from Italy's own The Grasso Brothers.

Gino & I have been chatting over the last 12 months or so and I’m very honoured to present this mix to you. The Grasso Brothers  have sourced and supplied records for DJs such as Sadar Bahar, Dimitri from Paris & Volcov and this mix is jam packed of disco boogie magic!

The Italian brothers Gino and Federico Grasso are among the Italian disco "don", collecting disco and boogie for over 30 years always looking for the best rare tracks. In 2016 they were calling from BBE for realize a compilation of their obscure gems.. The comp is called The Grasso Brothers present: "We Know How to Boogie".  Gino is a familiar face, often working in Italian and foreign clubs as well as in his hometown, Bologna, while for Federico, by choice, DJ sets are more occasional always looking for the right opportunity to offer music for fine palates. Music, passion and knowledge has led the Grasso Brothers to play in Paris, London, Jazz Re found, Special party for Fat Fat Festival, Organica Festival and Liverpool Disco Festival.

The Guest Mix 007: The Grasso Brothers

Last January's Diogo @Strausz 7" Emancipacao was one of the stand-out moments of 2021. Now @razor-n-tape and Diogo have revisited the release this time on 12" with extended versions of both tracks from the 7". Taking things a step further they have also drafted in Chicago legend Ron Trent on remix duties for Emancipacao taking this one off to the finest club floors in 2022 and well beyond.

To celebrate the release we asked Diogo to lay down a mix for our selectors series and he has created a magnificent entry for the series combining classic 80's electro, soulful house, funk and party Latin with house bubblers. It's everything that we love about djing effortlessly crossing many genres.

The first time I caught @samredmore was in the mix for Craig Charles BBC Radio 6 Funk and Soul show and it was a bit of a wow moment. That he is an extremely talented DJ is an understatement.

He is also a very accomplished artist and currently has a brilliant album Universal Vibrations out via the spiciest of UK labels @jalapeno-records.

With a great single 'One More Time' out now and a new single dropping on the 21st we spoke to Sam about his career and he also put together this brilliant mix for us. I had planned to post this in the New Year as this first instalment of Dub Disco Deli (recorded in 2008) has never been on SoundCloud, but I decided to upload it today in memory of Terry Hall. His music didn't just awaken me musically, it ignited my political awareness and educated me about the importance of social justice in a manner that was far more tangible than anything I learnt in the classroom. RIP Terry, your spirit lives on. x

Aroop Roy is a producer, musician and label head, who joins the dots between electronic music and borderless organic sounds. From house, disco and techno to jazz, funk and Afrobeat, he has enjoyed universal acclaim as a producer and DJ.

Like his productions, his sets are full of personality and style and have earned him a growing reputation as a uniquely gifted DJ. In 2022, he closed We Out Here Festival with Mr Scruff who described Aroop as a 'ridiculously skilled selector, musically able to move in any direction with ease'. We were fortunate enough to witness this magic, so it's with great pleasure we welcome him to the series. Enjoy

With a superb new modern Brazilian Disco EP out on the excellent @fileunderdisco which has garnered remixes from heavy hitters JKriv, Dicky Trisco and Joutro Mundo and has seen some huge DJ support we thought that it was high time that we got to know @Processman a little better.

Having checked out his Soundcloud we quickly realised that as well as being a talented producer that he is also seriously  brilliant DJ so we asked him to step up to the LV decks which he has done in spectacular fashion mixing up a fusion of disco, boogie and house with a serious Latin Flare. @casbah-73 has been very much following his own path over the last few years with seriously tasty releases on Gliterbox, Boogie Angst and Lovemonk. Crafting exciting modern disco he's an artist who is definitely turning all the right heads as well as filling dancefloors to the brim all over the globe.
