Selectors Disco Mixes

A collective of musicians devoted to walking the blurred lines that divide disco, funk, boogie and house - Kokoro Disco San! The Barcelona group brought their uncanny ability to capture the mood and instrumentation of classic disco and soul with their uplifting summer anthems on the recent Sunshine EP.

KDS's Javi and Miguel recently came together for a groove session at Marula, their favorite boogie joint in their hometown Barcelona. We've cut a sensational 90 minutes from the 6+ hour jam to enjoy as the latest Razor-N-Tape Podcast. They showcase all the tones & treats that have shaped the Kokoro Disco San sound : disco, funk, and house provide the foundation, while cumbia, salsa, hip hop and other flavors enter the fro throughout this set of eclectically dance-centric selections.

Julia Presnyakova and Sanyo Filippov aka Limpodisco began their DJ and production journey through their mutual love for synthesizers. Exploring disco, synthpop, boogie and house, Limpodisco describe themselves as 'that little bridge to that marvelous fairy-tale world, full of palm trees and boogie-vibrations, where girls dance in palm skirts and jungle animals cheerfully rollick and loudly din.'

This year in Berlin they've played at Aeden’s Toy Tonics party, Horse Meat Disco at Prince Charles, and KitKat and Goldkuss.

The first time I caught @samredmore was in the mix for Craig Charles BBC Radio 6 Funk and Soul show and it was a bit of a wow moment. That he is an extremely talented DJ is an understatement.

He is also a very accomplished artist and currently has a brilliant album Universal Vibrations out via the spiciest of UK labels @jalapeno-records.

With a great single 'One More Time' out now and a new single dropping on the 21st we spoke to Sam about his career and he also put together this brilliant mix for us. With a superb new modern Brazilian Disco EP out on the excellent @fileunderdisco which has garnered remixes from heavy hitters JKriv, Dicky Trisco and Joutro Mundo and has seen some huge DJ support we thought that it was high time that we got to know @Processman a little better.

Having checked out his Soundcloud we quickly realised that as well as being a talented producer that he is also seriously  brilliant DJ so we asked him to step up to the LV decks which he has done in spectacular fashion mixing up a fusion of disco, boogie and house with a serious Latin Flare. @casbah-73 has been very much following his own path over the last few years with seriously tasty releases on Gliterbox, Boogie Angst and Lovemonk. Crafting exciting modern disco he's an artist who is definitely turning all the right heads as well as filling dancefloors to the brim all over the globe.

@gleddmusic has been a fascinating artist to watch over the last few years. As well as delivering a constant stream of excellent music, he's also clearly a very talented DJ who holds himself to very high standards. His label @saintwaxrecords has been brilliantly curated featuring Tiptoes, Siggatunez, Soulcheeba and many more excellent artists with each release well worth picking up in it's own right.

Edinburgh's Athens of the North (@djfryer) is one of the best labels out there right now and indeed has been leading the way for a few years now. A combination of wonderful re-issues, re-discoveries from dusty digging tricks and some sublime original material it's been and LV go-to for quite some time for gigs. AOTN is a label which manages to balance a regular output on both vinyl and digital with a ridiculously high quality level.

One of the releases that caught my ear recently from the label was the sublime album from Bright & Findlay which has all the hallmarks of a future classic for lovers of NY disco/ Metro Area/ Balearic electronic and the likes.

I thought that it was high time we stopped admiring from afar and grabbed a chat with label boss Euan Fryer about his history and the background to the label and what he has upcoming. He also sent us this rather brilliant mix from a recent live gig he did in Ibiza. Please give it a share and help us spread the ❤️.
