What would Christmas be without presents? Slow Mo Lounge is back with the 7th annual 'Festive Disco' and for the first time (ever) it features an international producer and deejay. 

This time it features the non-smoking, 5'11", spotlight-avoiding music producer, crate digger, rare DJ but all-round music aficionado, originally from the UK's East Midlands but currently living in the Middle East, YSE Saint Laur' Ant.

He plays a slow-burning, genre-bending 45-minute set, followed by Slow Mo Lounge (South Africa) founder, Kongisto.

The mix begins with 45 minutes of original samples, soul, hip hop, rarities, nu jazz, loops and weirded-out samples over hypnotic shuffles - breezy, disco-drenched yacht rock.

After 45 minutes, Kongisto, plays household favourite slow-burners, 2023 released disco edits, and unreleased edits, collected from some of the best genre-based producers around the globe.

Popular for his smash hit, ‘Warm Wind Brewing’ and ‘I Own The Boogie’ off his 2013 EP, ‘Beards’, YSE Saint Laur’ Ant’s credits include labels like Whiskey Disco, Editorial, Pressed For Time, Vinyl Only, Swedish Brandy, Lost My Dog, Ornate Music, City Fly, Pickpocket, and Blockhead Recordings (to name a few).

This man is a giant producer and his musical ability is telling of the accolade and prestige.

My hour of Episode 155 was, once again, a bit of a tribute to geniuses that have sadly left us recently. After bidding farewell to Gwen McCrae and Roberta Flack last show, I did the same this time for the great Roy Ayers, Angie Stone and Yam Who? of Midnight Riot. I opened the show with his remix of my own track that came out on MR a couple of years back, and fitted in a few from him and Roy, and one from Angie too. Come on 2025 - stop it! 

Hour two was very special this time. I brought you a guest mix from a very talented producer who caught my ear late last year - Bralan Arias from Bogota, Colombia. His mix is almost all his own stuff, and almost all of it is unreleased. It’s an absolute treat - loads of his trademark jazzy house sounds, some cheeky samples, plenty of Rhodes, some acid… and things pick up a fair bit towards the end. We first came across Divine Situation a couple of years back when their superb Born Again EP dropped courtesy of Moton Records. Their catalogue is now rammed to the hilt with euphoric hand-in-the-air Gospel cuts perfectly crafted for the dance-floor.
Divine Situation are Greg Belson and Paulo Fulci two long time producers and soulful music aficionados with an enviable history between them. We spoke to Greg and Paulo about their work so far, their digging legacy, radio shows and their track ‘Goin On’ on Midnight Riot’s ‘Take it To Church Vol. 3’ which has just landed and their future plans.
