E.S.M is a scintillating slice of euphoric deep house. It's a collaboration of Canadian DJ / Producers and longtime friends @fredeverything & @trevorlifeboogiewalker. The duo have shared the decks together many times over the years becoming well known for their four decks and two mixer sessions and they have carried that musical understanding over into their production together.

Smooth deep, and full of dancefloor know-how E.S.M. is wonderfully graceful and perfect for those hazy smoke filled 3am sets.  It's out via @compost on the 26th November. One of the artists who shone through the recent Covid lockdowns were Glasgow's @shakalovesyou with their regular quality filled streams and easy going banter keeping us all enthused and in good spirits here at Le Visiteur. They have backed this up with a series of great releases via the excellent Bombstrikes label with singles Hangin' Out and Get Down galvanising their support following their Joints & Jams compilation. 

Now they are back with a crackin' feel-good disco edged EP Just a Little Time via @bombstrikes.

As always with Dobro it's a strong cast list of contributors with Scruscru & Iner, Sune & Igor Gonya, Artem Xio, Sirs & Lovebirds, Hotmood and Buzz Compass nestled in among a 16 track offering.

When a brand new @Outplay release lands in our digital mailbox we drop everything and get it straight on the LV office sound system. When it's by one of the label co-bosses @junktionmusic we know that we are in for a treat. We've been fans of his since way back before the current iteration of Le VIsiteur Online existed. Safe to say that he lived up to the office hype as we dropped the needle on this package.

Moving away from his traditional cool as you like house and deep house vibes he has delivered up a scorcher of a disco edged house EP in the shape of Tributes. Our premier today is the funky as hell 'I Got Somebody'. It's a groover for sure, with acid licks, subtle keys and some very classy vocal samples providing plenty of dancefloor verve. Dimitri from Paris (@dfp) and @dj-rocca have a strong history together collaborating on a number of excellent releases over the years including dancefloor gems 'Disco Shake' and 'Ero Disco Theme'. It's always a pleasure to have this disco dream team back and here they have delivered another stone cold future classic in the shape of 'The Compass Point'. It's one of five brand new tracks to feature on '12 Compost Disco Years Volume 1' which lands via digital on the 3rd December with the vinyl following on April 2022 via @compost disco.

The compilation is packed with 9 classy tracks straddling the disco universe from the likes of Manuel Tur, DJ Pippi & Willie Graff and AN-2.

Much respected DJ and producer Milton Jackson has been making music for a double decade. Easily one of the most admired producers of the UK Deep house scene it’s a pleasure to have him back quick smart and in sterling form following his recent killer EP with with Shur-I-Kan.

Dropping on the 3rd December his ‘House Arrest EP’ on London’s Freerange Records features five tracks of very classy deep house and electronica.

Belgian duo Chassé keep the acclaimed Black Jukebox series rolling with a 4-track EP that pays homage to classic US house sounds in accomplished style.

'Fake Real' kicks off with sunny abandon, all breezy piano chords and synth sax creating an authentic early-'90s NYC house vibe over plump plucked bass and lazily skipping percussion. Deep pads, bright strings and delicate synth arps bring the atmospheric edge. 

'People Dancing' ups both the chonk and swing factor, getting more jaunty with its live piano chords and lilting rhythm. Hazy, filtered electric piano chords swoon over classic drum hits, the deep and the pumping meeting in perfect harmony.

'Nightlife' takes snatches of classic house vocal and peppers them between melancholic chord samples and dramatic snare hits, and a tense breakdown that exacerbates the subtle qualities of this soulful stomper. A few carefully placed organ notes are all that's needed to draw the most out of the cool bassline funk.

'True Game' rounds off this delicious EP, finding itself somewhere between the classic US house vein and the French touch era, where graceful pads cut against jazzy organ chords, pitched-down vocals, garage snare patterns and seductive bass throbs.

A timeless deep house track with a powerful message, Manchild (In The Promise Land) is a brand new creation from two of Chicago House music’s true architects, Ron Trent & Lono Brazil.

Getting his start as a DJ in the mid 80s while still a teenager, Ron Trent quickly turned his hand to production, studying percussion and keyboards; skills which define his distinctive, melodic compositions to this day. Founding Prescription Records with Chez Damier in ’93 and sister label Balance soon after, he helped introduce talents such as Moodymann, Pevan Everett and Luke Solomon to a global audience. Ron Trent’s career has gone from strength to strength over the last three decades, DJing all over the globe while continuing to push boundaries with his productions and remixes.

Mentored by none other than Frankie Knuckles and a close associate of the great Ron Hardy, Lono Brazil’s musical roots touch the very foundations of House Music. A true cultural ambassador, over the years Lono has produced shows with legendary artist Keith Haring, worked as an executive for Capitol/EMI and helped kick-start the recent disco revival from a small dive bar in Chicago’s North side, not to mention walking the runways of New York, Milan, London and Tokyo as a high fashion model.

Afro-centric house in its purest form, Manchild (In The Promised Land) is characterised by Lono Brazil’s golden voice and original spoken word poetry which paints a moving picture of urban deprivation and stolen childhood. Subtle synth chords shimmer behind the jazz influenced bass-line and warm percussion that seems to play ‘call and response’ with the vocal.

Fresh from appearing on Boiler Room Tokyo back in April, talented and in-demand Japanese husband and wife duo ‘Dazzle Drums’ provide a deep and tribal dub version of ‘Manchild’, steadily building up a compelling drum groove before taking flight into synth-heaven.

Calling once again on the production skills of @Hugo-LX - who featured on Mona Musique’s debut release - ‘NY Collage’ reminds us why he is a firm favourite with label boss @NickV. A standout soulful bassline and trademark Hugo LX drum beat, makes this a sophisticated choice to lift up the dancefloor.
Over on the B side is a remix from man of the moment @Kaytronik The DJ/producer veteran, also known as Karizma, has reworked the track to almost beyond recognition. Deep and dreamy, a new bassline gives it that raw kick, evocative of London in the later hours of the night.
Closing off the EP is a remix of ‘Drifting Away’, Hugo LX’s aforementioned Mona Musique debut. Crafted by Ambroise Boret aka Ambrose, the production head behind releases on late 90s House labels Kif SA and Basenotic, he is also the imprint’s studio engineer. A fan of the Kenlou/MAW era, Ambrose’s rework remains true to the deepness of the original cut, but mixes things up with a tougher, harder-hitting edge and wonky keys.
