I talked with D'Atra Jackson of Durham, North Carolina about why she and a group of youth activists came to Ohio to join the protests demanding the release of the surveillance video from the night John Crawford III was shot. She talks about solidarity among black and brown youth and intersectional organizing.

After this year’s severe drought and historically high temperatures, most nearby bodies of water are seriously parched. The lack of white stuff so far this winter hasn’t helped.

The once mighty Mississippi is nearly impassable in some areas, but it’s the shrinking water in Lake Michigan that worries some the most -- the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says water levels there hit a record low last month. 

As WBEZ Pritzker Fellow Lewis Wallace discovered, it’s not just shippers and fishermen who are nervous.
