Here’s our new song, a collaboration between John Styles, Claes Steen, Oliver Papke & The Orchestra.
This version is a pre-release, as we still want to replay the outro, however after an accident our friend Oliver Papke ended up in the hospital in need of a surgery, so we dedicate this version to Oliver, and we hope he will recover fully, and get’s well very soon, best wishes from us all our friend..

Claes send John his new song (he named “Heaven can wait”) total length of 1:44, gave him free hand to play / create along with it.
Then John cut it into 2 bits of 52 seconds, and he created an intro, bridge and an outro together with Oliver, while they were sending tracks back and forth they end up with a new song which we all liked, when all melodies and harmonies were re-arranged, John asked Oliver to play the piano all over again.
The Orchestra offered to play the brass & staccato violin sections, and the contra bass, for which we are very grateful..
As John still wasn’t satisfied with the outro, he did it all over again, it was our intention to let The Orchestra replay their instruments in the outro as well, but for now there was not enough time, so we’ll continue to finish this song at a later stage.

"Waves of Love"

I played at the piano again and again with the keyboard ...
Then, after a long time (3 months) I had this tune finished and arranged ...
I was glad when the piano melody to "Waves of Love" was finally finished  ...
Now I could start playing the strings ....
After listening to the song several times, I started to feel the melodies and I played the flutes, repeating until I was satisfied with the result.
After the flutes, the other instruments were added to the piano melody. These included the violins and the cello ...
It was a great pleasure for me to send it to Colin.

Waves of Love - Oliver Papke and Colin Powell

When Oliver first sent me his version of Waves of Love, he said he wanted it to become an EPIC New Age track, with lots of power. I added several harmony parts that add to the melody and then a bass guitar that comes in later to give some more bottom end.
Then, of course, there are those epic drums that Eva and Oliver (and me!) are so fond of! Plus cymbal crashes for extra epic-ness.
So, Oliver got his wish! A New Age Epic, which was also an epic to mix (26 tracks on my iPad!). But it was great fun to add to, mix and master this wonderful piece of music. We hope you like it too.

It's always amazing what you can come up with ...
This track only motivates us to go further with the music and create more musical compositions.
