My set from solstice festival is up on the cloud. 

Solstice is a unique festival happening in the northernmost tip of Finland. Since it’s so far out of civilisation (9 hours drive from Helsinki), the people who choose to attend are actually making the effort to travel that far and are purely there for the music & nature.

At this time of year, the sun in Lapland is never going down... the stage was up on a mountain giving a glowing northern view. I got the dance floor from Ajukaja & Ats who played a live set around 120 bpm and took it from there. It felt like playing at a club but it was at the open wide - probably the absolute perfect settings for me.

I've never been one to record my live sets, but this time I wanted to try and capture the essence of the moment. You can never fully recreate it, but you can feel its energy. I made sure to include the sounds of the room, the raving crowd, and even some funny insights at the end of the set 🙃

Thanks Joni, Denzel, Justus, Daniel and Andy for crafting it all, you are true pros! And to Gabrielle for holding my hand and making your birthday celebration in the woods one to remember! Lastly, thanks Yonti for joining me in purchasing this recorder just days before the festival :)

Puglia-born and Berlin-based Luigi Di Venere is one of the most
exciting presences in electronic music. Now a much-loved DJ,
producer, and promoter, he first came to attention at Cocktail
d’Amore, where he is a resident. Di Venere’s talent was quickly
spotted by other promoters, and over the past years he has
become a regular feature of Panorama Bar and at the infamous
fetish club lab.oratory.

His musical style is rooted in Italo house and cosmic Italo disco,
techno, New Beat, trance, and he is especially known for his
luxurious Balearic waves, trippy cosmic soundscapes and
explosive combinations. Di Venere also runs his own club
nights including Maximum Joy in Berlin and Power Dance Club
in Athens and Berlin. In the past, Di Venere has hosted his own
radio show MachineSex on Radio Cómeme, and his ambient
compositions have featured in numerous fashion and art
projects.

These days, Di Venere can be found managing the Phonica
Records satellite in Berlin’s The Stores X, and expanding his
new label with Neu Verboten, Philoxenia Records. Di Venere
enjoys a number of exciting musical collaborations, including
Banana Moon (with Massimiliano Pagliara), SolidAir (with Jules
Etienne), Affekt Unit (with Neu Verboten). Check out his latest

Blush aims to help soothe the queer spectrum and focus on the well-being of the community. Queer DJs are invited to submit a mix to showcase an alternative side to their music library outside of a rave and take us on a meditative journey. ✨

Notes on the mix:

"The past two years have been about change for me.  After living in Texas for many years I moved to San Francisco.  While driving out west I was reflecting on the move I made twelve years ago. I was going the opposite direction- from Los Angeles to Austin.  I remember the feeling of excitement and nervousness as I was shifting my life in such a big way. Also as a queer person it felt counter-intuitive to move from what was supposedly a liberal place (California) to a more conservative one (Texas). When I passed the border into Texas it was dusk, but it felt like the sun took hours to actually set.  A distinct memory was listening to Oneohtrix Point Never's "Returnal '' and the album enhanced the slow motion feeling of being in a foreign landscape of rolling hills and heaving clouds.  It's a feeling that stuck with me and with this mix I am exploring what it felt like to make the drive in reverse, heading back to California for different opportunities.  This is mix is very much about the experience of anticipation I projected onto the landscape."

Mouthfeel is a DJ, film maker, and HIV activist living in San Francisco.  With his partner, he puts together the party and publication Service. Before his recent move to California he was a defining voice in Austin, Texas's underground queer nightlife scene.  He is a co-founder of the Contrast Film Festival which celebrates film, multimedia art, and performance from women and queer artists.  He also helped produce Double Scorpio's series of raves and created Y'All Or Nothing, a one day festival of queer counter-programing mounted for ten years during South by Southwest. In 2022 he premiered his first feature film, Erica's First Holy Shit.

From Petach Tiqva to Ft. Lauderdale to a carefully managed escape to NYC in 1988, Liad Krispin is by no means your typical “old-school” DJ. In 1997, with the support of a few close DJ friends, he launched Hamsa, a much-loved underground party. In 2008, Liad moved to Berlin where he spent the next 15 years cultivating his current sound & style. His musical taste spans over 4 decades and 3 continents to provide an eclectic-yet-always-evolving influence that is rooted in underground dance music and stretches from Disco to House to Techno and everything in between. Liad currently resides in Basel and travels often to his previous hometown of Berlin to play as part of his longtime residence at the infamous Cocktail d'Amore party or simply to get his Berlin dancefloor fix.
