With over 2 years in the making, the debut of Luis Leon on Nie Wieder Schlafen feels like a long overdue salvation. The highly explorative mind of Luis has always fascinated us and while the right moment has taken it's time, his sound was always admired in some shape and form. At last, we were finally able to capture his vision in our framework, which allowed his sound to prosper with our collaborative touch. With incredible patience and careful selection throughout the last years of communication, Luis Leon's debut comes with the name of "My Ears Have Tears".

The ideas of hypnotic base rhythms and long drifting sounds do extend to the next track called "Take the Gun". Wunderous vox-like pads open and close in a breathing-like sense, while a ruthless and quick bass/kick pattern fills out the low end space, to build some heavy momentum. Long-lasting, almost noisy spaces fill the tension within the groove, while the fading but long one note pads decay in the abyss with subtle but effective glides. It invokes a mysterious space that is explored with excitement.

Luis Leon - Take The Gun

On 8 January I celebrated my birthday in the mountains, in a beautiful house surrounded by forests, together with 25 of my closest friends. We danced and celebrated for 2 days, and officially kick started the 2022 season of @cabanalibre parties!

This set took form on Saturday night, around 2 AM, when the forest creatures were undulating their bodies to the laser shapes and bass vibrations. Enjoy.

dRWALcast 012: Organika II | 02.2022

Death on the Balcony's ‘Tides Of Fortune' has been the subject of relentless "track ID" requests pleading us to reveal the name of the artist and track since Be-At-TV streamed the BPM performance of Lee Burridge and Matthew Dekay back in 2015. 
Joined on the EP by three other tracks there's a cohesive feel to the two friends vibe. Mysterious melodies drift in and out of the hypnotic grooves on Rivers of sound that could have soundtracked a star trek episode from the original series.

'1700 miles' is delicate and deep with a simple infectious vocal sample. Don't be deceived though. When played on a club system the kick drum and bassline draw you in while the atmospheric elements send the listener to otherworldly places. We feel rather privileged as this track is Mark’s first solo outing from DOTB under his new moniker “Caramelli” and DOTBs first full length on All Day I Dream. 

Mark’s back in the band for 'Memories Of The Future' which completes the release with its funky bass and trippy ambience. 

Close your eyes and be transported.

For our next Motek Music release we are excited to bring the cinematic soundscapes of Jackie Komutatsu. Warrior is a powerful EP steeped in warm percussive textures and weighty synth tones.

Title track has the faster feel of the productions with quick and constantly moving percussion sections. The highlight of the track comes in the extended breakdown that moves towards a middle eastern movie score whilst always keeping a dance floor feel before finally dropping back in with some serious energy.

Hot on the heels of the first part of his mini album release, Oropós, Stevie R reprises his partnership with Parisinos to offer us three more doses of forward thinking fire with this follow up, Ta Paidia Tis Geitonias.

Stevie R continues to push his beloved creation, the Rebetronica sound. The folk music of Greece is allied with indie, techno and dark disco influences.

The title track opens with a menacing break beat line and 808 kick bass, laced with a hypnotic SH 101 acid arp line and the disorientating sounds of Greek folk music, which are soon joined by the vocals of Anna Maria X. Both songcraft and the makings of a powerful club tool are on show here.

Next up, Saté Saté Saté layers hook upon hook. The bassline is an earworm in itself, while the top line elevates the track to anthemic proportions, evoking a 70s psychedelic feel that gives the piece the air of a classic. This one is bound to stand out on the dancefloor and at home.

Finally Túka marks a return to break beat and mangled analogue electronics. Disembodied robot vocals mesh with detuned modular arps. The sound of malfunction has never sounded so good!

So there we have it, three tracks to conclude a mini album full of surprise and new ideas that make a new contribution to the scene. Welcome to the musical cosmos of Stevie R.
