Despite the many weird and wonderful submissions they get from Joe Public at Data Transmission – think everything from bottles of homemade hooch to used underwear – Data Transmission freely admit that we were most surprised to receive a cassette accompanied by a polaroid photo of alphabetti spaghetti spelling out ‘I AM RON MEXICO’ in the post at the tail end of last year. Intrigued, DT dusted off their Walkman and gave the tape a listen to find that what was on offer, was, well…surprisingly good!!! They then set about finding him online, only to find that there was not a single mention of him on the internet.

Several weeks passed and having written Ron Mexico off as an elaborate prank concocted by the over active imagination of one of their many friends with far too much time on their hands, Data Transmission didn’t expect to hear from him again. Then the postman delivered a bottle of tequila every day for twelve days. A postcard then followed, with the following message inscribed in Spanish “Now you’re suitably inebriated, perhaps we can talk on Facebook”. One brief chat later, Data Transmission had arranged for Ron to come with us to burgeoning snow festival, Rise, wherein we’d meet the mysterious selector in the flesh for the first time. His rider, predictably contained a variety of mescal, alongside “1 semi-inflated inflatable shark, a frozen banana and a copy of the Karate Kid on VHS”. The time in the French Alps with a masked Ron was fleeting and having ingested what we’d consider a potentially lethal amount of Mexican spirits, Ron Mexico left as much of an enigma as he’d arrived.

6 years on and Ron Mexico became the selector of all music for Data Transmission

After some gentle coaxing and assurances by Hobbs (UK) that he wouldn’t bring any “cameras or cops” ‘Ron’ instructed him to meet him at London’s St. Katharine’s Dock at 10.47 AM precisely with the promise he’d see him. And see him he did. Arriving by jetski, the still masked Mr. Mexico disembarked on to a pontoon wherein they set about creating 'Scolarisé à Domicile'.

Nato a trieste nel 1970 da subito capisce la sua passione per la musica elettronica. Già dai primi anni 80 abbraccia il genere musicale della dance ma nel corso della sua vita modifica a seconda della moda i suoi gusti musicali, passando dal garage fino ad arrivare alla techno detroit. Nel 1995 comincia a girare i dischi in vari locali del nord est Italia, e succesivamente nella vicina Slovenia proponendo nei club musica house e techno con lo pseudonimo dj DAVE suonando fra gli altri con dj Umek, Valentino Kanzyany, Stefano Noferini,dj Sputnik, quest'ultimo resident dj dell'Ambasada Gavioli di Isola (Slo). Dal 2005 al 2007 era titolare del negozio di dischi Downtown Records situato nella sua città d'origine. In questo momento abbraccia il genere tech e techno nei vari club e locali dove suona. Nei suoi progetti futuri è contemplata la produzione di un disco e diverse serate presso diversi locali, dal 2016 va in onda il venerdi sera  su Radio Punto Zero in streaming !!


Born in Trieste in 1970 immediately understand his passion for electronic music. Since early 80 embraces the genre of dance but in the course of his life changes according to fashion his music tastes, from the garage up to the detroit techno. In 1995 he began to spin records at various clubs in the north east Italy, and subsequently in neighboring Slovenia proposing in the club house and techno music under the name DJ DAVE, playing among others with DJ Umek, Valentino Kanzyany, Stefano Noferini, DJ Sputnik, resident dj of Ambasada Gavioli located in Izola (Slovenia). From 2005 to 2007 he was the owner of the record store Downtown Records located in his hometown. In this time embraces the genre and tech techno in clubs and places to play. In his future projects is contemplated the production of a disc and several evenings at various places,from 2016 airs Friday night on Radio Punto Zero streaming !!

LIBS is the alias of artist Ryan Libby who is based in Portugals Algarve region. LIBS co-runs People Of The Light Records. His popular monthly radio show on Data Transmission, ‘The Haraka Sessions’ allows him to showcase new music and forthcoming releases. His early influences come from the likes of Tony De Vit and Mauro Picotto, to name a few. LIBS has released on the likes of Krafted Underground, Revolt Records and Position Obscure Recordings
