so, this is my essential mix. i want to say a few things about it!

before writing "worlds", i'd been feeling kinda pessimistic about the future of electronic music. so once i was done writing "worlds" over the course of 2~ish years, i just felt the need to find new stuff that i loved. i did a ton of soundcloud digging, basically, and most of the music in this mix was music i found that way. that's not to say that there aren't classics or songs i've known for a while here, but it's mostly new music.

then BBC radio 1 asked me to do an essential mix, and it seemed like the perfect way to showcase new stuff i was into.

i also feel like it's important to point out that this mix isn't what the worlds tour is going to sound like, really - that tour is going to be only my own music. all originals. (also it's going to be a blast and a visual journey and other stuff i can't talk about yet ehehe).

Gardens & Villa "Love Affair (Swift Demo)" from the 'Televisor EP' now available for Free Download at www.gardensandvilla.com

Gardens & Villa have compiled a collection of demos and early visions as a gift to their fans, namely the Televisor EP. According to the band, 'Televisor' is a collection of musical sketches, the majority of which were playfully brought into existence when Gardens & Villa stopped by Richard Swift's National Freedom studio in February of 2012. During psychological experiments inspired by Carl Jung's 'Liber Novus' they reflected on madness and greatness, searching for inspiration in redeeming symbols: smoke, mirrors and the late night hiss. Some danced in-between takes or barked like a train. The band later described their time with Swift as "a fun and frenzied recording, undertaken during professional hysterics."
 
The other pieces of 'Televisor' were selected from the Dunes recordings with Tim Goldsworthy in 2013. Together these sessions represent some of the more hidden, shrouded sinews of a sonic structure, the unseen movements and psychedelic corridors of Gardens & Villa. Fans can obtain a download of Televisor for free in exchange for their email address via Gardens & Villa's official website.
 
Gardens & Villa embark on a three month tour across North America starting this week. All dates listed below.

Dutch producer Bas Bron aka Fatima Yamaha has been hammering out quality releases under numerous aliases for more than a decade now. Nevertheless it wasn’t until the 2015 re-issuing of his fourteen-year-old track ‘What’s A Girl To Do’ on Dekmantel Records, that his gush into the underground forefront has now exhilarated his unique talent. Fatima Yamaha starts of the 2017 year of Dekmantel Records with his second EP for the Amsterdam label and ‘Araya’ promises to be a worthy successor of his 2015 success.

The title track ‘Araya’ is the absolute eye catcher of this EP. Already tested in Fatima Yamaha’s highly anticipated live-sets in the last months, with great response, ‘Araya’ is a dramatic curtain raiser that only he can make. Next to that, Bron effectively spills his keen ear for melody on the A-side with his typical electro-funk with ‘Piayes Beach Bar And Grill’. On the flip crystalline synth drops, a classic piano and skipping drums are the main ingredients for ‘Romantic Bureaucracy’.
