After the sensation caused by its last release, Life and Death comes back strong with another battle cry into the darkness. With a prized new member of the family, Vaal, joining forces with a Life and Death mainstay, Tale of Us, the stage is set for another epic EP from the forward thinking label.

On the A side Concor grabs the listener with its immediate sense of urgency and a beckoning, slightly exotic melody. As it slowly twists and turns, moving ever more insistently towards its peak it propels the listener to a distant exotic land, as a throbbing beat and cymbals accentuate and elevate the tension. Already a mainstay of the few DJs lucky enough to get their hands on it early, this is sure to be one that will lodge itself deeply into the collective unconscious as we make the long march thru winter and back to summer again.

Over on the B side comes Seahnak, an equally beautiful piece of music that manages to present its intricate melody without ever letting its energy dip. Gothic and yet regal at the same time, as the lead synth shoots out the gate, it takes us on a surprising journey as it pushes the limits of what we might expect from dance music while raising our expectations of it in the process.

The highly prolific dubspeeka returns to Senso Sounds after 2014’s killer Fargo EP, bringing another four slices of sleek, polished techno to the table. Darren Beale, the Bristolian behind the moniker, has a fair few years in the industry under his belt, having roots back into the 90s rave and drum and bass scenes via his Kosheen project. His clear mastery of the studio is apparent here - all four tracks are lessons in tension and restraint. 'DroneDs7' maintains a constant level of unease and excitement, before various sub-troubling bass pulses and bleeps elevate it to peak time banger territory. 'NorthTarget' treads a similar path – a stripped down rhythm track where each percus- sive element is balanced perfectly against the other to create a hypnotic trip.	'Search 1.336' sees a tough, grinding groove softened with a melancholic melody, while 'ReturnBS1' delivers a metallic, percussive workout, which draws inspiration from both techno purism and house’s floor focused grooves.

"Ritter Butzke Club, based in the heart of Berlin-Kreuzberg, celebrates their 8th anniversary. What once started as an illegal rave, is now established on the regular club scene. 

After all these years, it still maintains the charm of an ‘unfinished’ living room. “8 Years Lost” is a sound document created by resident DJs and friends to represent the vibe of the place and to share it with their listeners.

The release comes with 14 tracks by celebrities like: Nicone`, Koletzki & Schwind, Klangkuenstler or Tigerskin, well mixed with tracks from the residents like: Baal, DJ Aroma or Prismode & Solvane plus some nice goodies from close friends who are also regulars in the venue such as: HRRSN, Kotlett & Zadak or Dapayk Solo. Markus Klee contributed a DJ Mix to the digital edition of the release.

Classically trained instrumentalist and Cocoon alum Malandra Jr. kicks off proceedings on a dynamic note with a pair of blissed-out tracks featuring blossoming synths, supple drums and whirring glitches. Citizen Kain follows suit with two energy-loaded numbers, the more dreamy and spaced out 'Crush', followed by the vocal-heavy 'Balance'. Next up is German producer Heerhorst who takes a turn for deep and pensive melodies with 'Centaurus', while 'Hydra' stands out with powerful synths and a rattling beat. Bold, intense synths are also at the core of Transcode’s 'String Theory' and 'Molecular Cloud', with the former offering a massive breakdown fit for peak time, and the latter a more resolute atmosphere overall. In the release’s final quarter, we find Olivier Giacomotto with two tribal-tinged constructions, the slow burner 'Moonshine', and its more unhinged counterpart, 'Bonobo'. Made in Paris rounds off the Trip with a couple of stirring slices brimful of radiating synths and spacious breakdowns.

All in all, a steady trickle of dancefloor-primed pieces setting off sparks of all the different types of energy needed to sustain a coalescent set.
