HOS second EP Wertz takes a more rhythmically driven approach compared to its predecessor Shaiyabra. Where the debut leaned into introspection, Wertz explores motion and sonic experimentation. Sampling, multi-effects and field recordings are woven into a soundscape that feels both outgoing and subtly unsettling. Music that moves, stutters and at times disorients.

PREMIERE⚡️HOS - Weightless [Electric Shapes]

The Way Of Time takes loose inspiration from Elizabeth Madox Roberts’ novel The Time Of Man, sampling Joan Lorring’s voice from the 1951 radio play adaptation of the novel.
Biosphere’s signature ambient loops, soothing arctic synths and melodies combine with Lorring’s sweet, wistful and deep-south wonderings to create a record that is both deeply human and searching.

Biosphere - The Way Of Time

Pure Space presents Black Smoke (2025 Remaster) by Andy Rantzen - our first-ever reissue, and a nod to a pivotal voice in Australia’s electronic music lineage.

Originally released in 2001 via the Creative Vibes compilation The Blue Hour Vol. 3: Deep Blue, Black Smoke is a deep cut from one of Eora/Sydney’s most quietly influential producers. Known for his work with Pelican Daughters, Itch-E & Scratch-E, and countless solo projects, Rantzen’s fingerprints are all over the foundations of Australian dance culture.

In revisiting the track for reissue, Andy uncovered three never-before-released alternate mixes buried deep in his DAT archive. Each offering a fresh perspective on the original’s tight tek percussion and deep soaring synths.

The newly remastered original lifts with propulsive clarity and analogue weight, while Alternative Mix 1 brings added bass pressure and sharpened percussion. Alternative Mix 2 introduces a classic acid lead, warping the groove into something more angular and elastic. Alternative Mix 3 slows the tempo and rinses the bassline, shifting the track into a darker, stauncher terrain - a twisted inversion of the original heat.

Nearly 25 years on, Black Smoke remains vital - a reminder that some frequencies never fade, they just keep mutating.

He walked amongst endless faces, down crowded passageways and corridors in the direction of the night. For the day was done and it was time to drown his sorrows in something sweet. On street corners they gathered, some lonely and alone, others amongst friends and loud voices. He managed to fake a smile, for it was not suitable for a man of his stature to frown. He was the life of the party, the lad of tomorrow, a breath of fresh air. As he marched through the old wooden doors into the drinking hole he let out a jovial shout, yet nobody knew what truly went on behind his eyes, for this was the make of the geez. 

Lifeforms are back with a two track EP from DJCJ, a rigorous electro affair designed to shake small clubs and bounce off the brickwork. This track is called 'Make Of The Geez' and it's as euphoric and poignant as it is robust.
