the lyrics in "the cold" grapple with reckoning the ending of a dear relationship and the difficulty of navigating the changing of a season. this song contains some of lighthearted's most inventive production features yet, including muffled drums, vocal distortion, mandolin, and q-tron envelope filtered guitar. these elements are balanced by the grounding piano, acoustic guitar riff, and drum groove. 

"the cold" is the third single off of lighthearted's debut album that will be released in spring of 2023.

lighthearted  is a dynamic indie-folk band from Athens, Georgia, fronted by identical twin sisters Gracie Huffman & Eliza Lemmon. Formed in 2019, the band draws from the deep wells of folk traditions and contemporary indie influences.
