In December 2013 Lettuce was finishing up what was by all accounts there most fruitful and successful year too date. They were all gathered in their defacto hometown of Brooklyn for a week long run at Brooklyn Bowl and their last show of the year at the Capitol Theater.

Never ones to waste a moment, Lettuce took their time together in December in between shows to record two new original tracks, “Don’t Be Afraid To Try”, which features vocalist Alecia Chakour, and “Yakitori”. “Don’t Be Afraid To Try” is sure to be a Lettuce staple for years to come, seamlessly blending the Lettuce sound with timeless R&B vocals. Alecia is currently touring with the band and fitting in perfectly. “Yakitori” is classic hard-tiiing instrumental Lettuce at its best. This is the sound that fans have come to expect from the band and “Yakitori” shows that the direction of the bands sound is still pushing funk to new heights!

Lettuce is offering these two singles for FREE through their soundcloud and on limited edition 7 in vinyl. You can pre-order the vinyl HERE. The tracks are also up on iTunes now.

It was a special year for the Lettuce collective in which they played huge dates at Bonnaroo, Summer Camp, the Fillmores in Denver and San Francisco and made it to a ton of cities for the first time, always met by eager fans new and old. Lettuce Spring tour starts tonight at the Roxy in LA and rolls on through April 6. The band then will celebrate Jazzfest at their Annual Royal Family Ball before a monster schedule of high profile festival appearances.

A beautiful, timeless collection of songs, We Are Catchers (real name Peter Jackson) summons up the spirits of legendary Mersey beasts like Mick and John Head, the Crucial Three, Bill Ryder Jones, Lee Mavers and the Wild Swans whilst chiming gorgeously with dusty echoes of records by Brian Wilson and Arthur Lee. Granted unique access to propaganda films from WWII-era Britain by the BFI and setting them to new music, Public Service Broadcasting unveil 'The War Room EP'. Expect breathtaking visuals, atmospheric synths, pounding drums, Krautrock guitars and poignant piano as J. Willgoose, Esq and his drumming companion Wrigglesworth teach the lessons of the past through the music of the future...

The lead track from the EP is named 'Spitfire' - an adaptation of the 1942 propaganda film 'The First of the Few', telling the story of the origins of the talismanic fighter. The track is a driving, Krautrock-influenced tune and the video stars Hollywood legends David Niven & Leslie Howard.

Howard was viewed by Josef Goebbels as the most dangerous British propagandist of the era and his own life was to end in tragedy when the passenger plane he was travelling on in 1943 was shot down by the Luftwaffe over the Bay of Biscay.

'The War Room EP' is dedicated to J. Willgoose, Esq.'s great-uncle, George Willgoose, who died at the Battle of Dunkirk in May 1940 aged 26. The final track of the EP, 'Waltz for George', is a sombre close to affairs, featuring the banjolele owned and played by George Willgoose which has remained in the family.

HOLY STRAYS is the nom de plume of 22 year-old Paris-based musician and producer Sebastien Forrester. The single, released on a limited edition 7” and digitally, follows on from his first releases via LA-based powerhouse Not Not Fun (Peaking Lights, Maria Minerva…).

Christabell A & B, born here as non-identical twins, are formed from massive skittering rhythms, twinkling micro-melodies and hypnotic organ recordings, whilst Forrester’s manipulated choir vocals spiral disembodied through the tracks under waves of eerie echoes. The resulting soundscapes lie somewhere in between an ADHD take on Villalobos’ percussive led experimental techno combined with the subtlety and playful instrumentation of Pantha du Prince and a certain pop sensitivity.

In the last year HOLY STRAYS has remixed acts as diverse as Forest Swords and Loney Dear, and also shared stages with various acts du jour such as Zola Jesus, Doldrums, Sun Araw and Laurel Halo.
