Ça commence dans la cave rue Jean ﻿Pierre Timbaud les premières semaines d'existence de Rinse France. Toujours présent ma poule. Une évidence donc d'organiser un take over ﻿pour fêter les 10 ans du label et la sortie de la compile "X, Ten Years ﻿of Loving Notes and Foolin' Around" qui tourne déjà en rotation. On a la﻿ chance d'accueillir des artistes que l'on a pas l'habitude d'avoir ﻿proche de nous, Omma qui est Russe et qui habite désormais dans le pays ﻿Nantais et River Yarra Parisien d'adoption venu tout droit de Melbourne.﻿ Nao Never dont on admire les mixes depuis un bon bails et qui à répondu﻿ présent à la première invitation à rejoindre le crew Antinote. Shelter,﻿ ami de longue date, producteur discret, prolifique et passionnant. ﻿Disquaire chez l'incontournable Bigwax records. Et enfin, Ygal Ohayon, ﻿amie depuis la post adolescence (en sommes nous sortis) pour un set ﻿proche de l'ineffable flirtant avec les bas fonds de la house ﻿progressive. Le tout hosté par Zaltan.

Since then John has shifted away from his live performances and emerged as an amazing up and coming DJ in the La scene. We’re honored to include him in our mix series ahead of his debut dj performance at Lights Down Low for our annual Halloween Rave to the Grave event.

John Bryars passion for music started at an early age with piano and soon after started playing drums. He continued to develop his musical abilities and began playing in a band drawing inspiration from artists including Sonic Youth, Fugazi and Blonde Redhead. He bought his first pair of turn tables and began spinning and collecting records during his senior year of high school.

After moving to San Francisco to attend art school, John formed the two piece band The Tenderlions in 2007. They were well received for their unique mix of live electronic and acoustic elements. The Tenderlions released several EP’s as well as singles and remixes through various labels such as Om Records. The live electronic duo had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the likes of The Prodigy James Murphey, and Simian Mobile Disco as well as playing reputable venues like The Warfield, Mezzanine, and Shoreline Amphitheater as well as various festivals. 

John is currently based in Los Angeles and is recognized for his broad tastes and eclectic style. He has played Legendary Los Angeles parties such as A Club Called Rhonda, Lights Down Low, Midnight Lovers and Future Primitive. He has DJed alongside Solar, Lina willikens, Marie Davidson, Octa Octa, Interstellar Funk, Honey Soundsystem, Gerd Janson, Honey Dijon, Maya Jane Coles and many others. He has done radio shows for NTS, Dublab and KXLU. He has played various festivals such as Sunset Campout and is working on an EP set to release early next year.

California dance music institution Lights Down Low has been entertaining creatures of the night for over 10 years, throwing parties in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and beyond. What began as a tiny monthly party at the infamous 222 Hyde club in the Tenderloin has become a multi-­city enterprise dedicated to hedonism in all its glory. With non-stop parties in Los Angeles and San Francisco, all shape shifting and geared toward pure sonic satisfaction.   Richie Panic & Corey Sizemore are renowned for their eclectic DJing style and the same holds true for their bookings. 

“We only book the artists and sounds that we play and are fans of first and foremost.The artists that we find in our record bags and we want to bring to the sweaty masses” 

Lights Down Low has featured too many guests to count, but some notable acts include Simian Mobile Disco, Optimo, Four Tet, Barnt, Jackmaster, Volvox, Fatima Yamaha, Veronica Vasicka, Derrick Carter, Helena Hauff, Evian Christ, Josh Wink, Jennifer Cardine, DJ Stingray, Daniel Avery, Paranoid London, Erol Alkan, and Silent Servant.

Founders and resident DJs Corey Sizemore and Richie Panic both got their start in small venues, throwing intimate parties with wild vibes. Separately, each had a dedicated following of partygoers who trusted their taste and curation. Together though, the two have built Lights Down Low into a pure party institution that spans genres, cultures, crews, genders, and more. Everything Lights Down Low stands for, and everything Richie & Corey aim to do is done under the aegis of bringing people from across the dance music cultural spectrum together to rave on the same dance floor. “No limits, no boundaries, just dancing.”
