Arnau Amatista is the new musical project from the Barcelonian Arnau Montserrat. Armed with a degree in audiovisual engineering, he moved to Berlin to connect and share projects with artists from the city and discover new sounds and musical experiences.  There, he met the Love Foundation collective, where he has since become a member and resident at their parties.

In 2014, together with his partner David Calvo, they start the electronic music duo Apocapoc performing in Berlin and Barcelona clubs such as Mensch Meier, Barts or Rosi's. Since 2015 he creates musical productions for performance and artistic installations, presented in spaces such as Sónar Festival or the historical Volksbühne in Berlin. 

The music
Fascinated by the tribal and psychedelic sounds of the 70s, Arnau Amatista mixes the 21st century Latin America and Oriental down tempo groove with the energy of the digital instruments characteristic of the Berlin Tech House. This fusion will transport you on a trip where happiness and energy are constantly present, focusing only on the now.

PAU PAU has founded in 2018 with her close friends the collective Zirkulation and contributed since then to many events to spread culture and bring people together.
t.zer has been a coordinating member of Love Foundation for many years. He also is the booker for LF Dresden and part of the objekt klein a crew. About a year ago, they came together for our first big party in Dresden together with Zirkulation at Sektor Evolution.

Pfandtastisch! Eine riesige Meute Soundpirat*innen hat sich dazu bereit erklärt, feine Musik für den vierten und bisher größten Kopfüber Sampler zu produzieren.

Dieses Mal geht es nicht um die Schiffe der Seawatch, die wir mit dem letzten Solisampler unterstützt haben. Unser eigenes Schiff schwankt, angesichts der aktuellen Lage und steht stillgelegt in seinem Heimathafen. Daher haben wir uns entschlossen, Freund*innen und Crewmitglieder*innen zum Produzieren zu animieren und diese Soundsammlung dann als Soli Sampler für einen humanen Einklaufspreis auf Bandcamp zu stellen. Jegliche Einnahmen werden dazu genutzt, die monatliche Miete für unser Verwirrtshaus zu sichern!

Wir freuen uns auf eure Unterstützung, um unser Projekt in Zeiten wie diesen am Laufen zu halten.
In Zukunft werden alle Sampler wieder auf Spendenbasis sein!

Pawn-tastic! A huge mob of sound pirates* has agreed to produce fine music for the fourth and so far biggest Kopfüber sampler.

This time it's not about the Seawatch ships we supported with the last soli sampler. Our own ship is wavering, given the current situation and stands idle in its home port. Therefore we decided to encourage friends and crew members to produce and then put the collected sounds on Bandcamp as a soli-sampler for a humane price. Any income will be used to secure the monthly rent for our Verwirrtshaus!

We are looking forward to your support to keep our project running in times like these. Future samplers will be free downloads again!

A big kiss to all who helped to write this exquisite piece of music history together with more than 20 artists*...

'Kultur for President' setzt sich aktiv gegen Diskriminierung und Entdemokratisierung in Wien ein. Neben Soliveranstaltungen sind sie besonders für Ihre Beteiligung an politischen Demonstrationen und Kampagnen bekannt. Und genau darüber wollen wir heute mehr erfahren.

#03 Kultur for President - How To Demo-Rave

"Proverbial Microbial" is a small collection of purple concepts created during the early days of the Covid-19 quarantine. The idea is to give the music a real physical and historical significance by connecting it with the past and bringing it full circle to the present. Taking two specific historical events that occurred in the past century, connecting those with our current 2020 situation, and finally translating it into music, the result comes out as the Proverbial Microbial, that molecular enemy (or friend) that we all fight against and ultimately adapt to.''

Mata Bicho is a satire in the form of a deep industrial slow banger. Inspired by the proverbial purple grandfather, José Maria Lopes, whose illustrious voice you hear throughout the track, the Mata Bicho (translated roughly from Portuguese as ‘'bug killer'') was a very common practice during my grandfathers youth, where men and women, at a time where there was very little to no access to dental hygiene, would drink homemade liquor in the morning to clean their mouth and teeth before heading to the fields to work. Also mentioned are the ‘'sopas de cavalo cansado'' or ‘'tired horse soups,'' a breakfast served specially to tired children that consisted of a soup made of bread, wine and sugar, done so the children would feel ‘'energized'' as they went to work long hours in the fields. It was well known at the time that alcohol was an effective way to combat fatigue and the ‘'bicho,'' but the side effects of daily alcohol consumption would only be felt years later, resulting in rampant alcoholism and health problems.

Mauveine Fever is a faster, funky arpeggio driven track. The title is a reference to a period in 19th century European history where one of the worlds first synthetic dyes was discovered by accident in 1856 by British chemist William Henry Perkin when he attempted to synthesise a cure for malaria. The colour purple had, up until then, only been accessible to those in the upper echelons of society, due to its long, arduous and costly procedure of obtaining a purple dye through natural means, but that changed with the discovery of the synthetic dye. Originally called aniline purple, Perkin's mauve quickly went into mass production and became a must have in the fashion world, at one point being so incredibly popular that a magazine called women wearing the colour ‘'migrating birds of purple paradise.''

In addition you can find two remixes, both from label bosses and veterans. Shrumate from Undergarden retouches Mata Bicho, and Gerra G from GATOPARDØ gives his own spin of Mauveine Fever. To close this Proverbial adventure, Tempura rethinks Mata Bicho as an ambient piece, featuring the poetry of friend and vocalist Yuri Wetink.
