Burning Man didn't happen this year. There weren't 20,000 people in the desert who built a city, did some art, and shared a community based on principles and joy. Nope, definitely none of that. And this certainly wasn't a set I played under a beautiful shade structure to a packed house on a wild Friday night, so don't get the wrong idea when you listen to it. This never happened.

Celebrating 50 yrs in the most kickass way...surrounded by friends & family who mean everything to me. This was a movement on so many levels...connections revisited and music that evokes emotion.  I was born in the city of Oakland and 50 yrs later, I wanted to throw down in the city of Oakland.  Thank you to all the volunteers and the owners/management team of the Tow Yard for making this event possible.  This was a 12 hr DJ marathon stacked with my favorite artists representing STiRTy like no other.  This set is a perfect reflection of who I am as I take you on a fun journey through some of my genre faves featuring tech house, minimal,  breaks, and indie pop mashups.

Ok, you're the DJ(s)...8:45am...the morning sun is shining, and a field of friends and family are reveling in the afterglow of a three hour dawn set by Thugfucker.  What do you play?  How do you follow that?  These are questions Dao & I were honored and privileged to answer more than hypothetically at the FnF summer campout 2012, only a few days ago.  We are proud to have spent  time and energy crafting this set.  (This is a re-creation, polished and pretty for you ;)  We wore kimonos.  We had a blast. Dao & Pwny - Morning with Friends & Family (1x1 tag)

Lil' chris hit the music scene in the late 1990s.  It began with an attraction to the B-boy scene, street battles, and garage DJs.  The scene hit a deep chord.  

Borrowing 2 turntables, a mixer, the love of digging for vinyl, promoted her daily obsession with becoming a DJ.  It started with hip hop blends, 80s pop singles, new wave, and freestyle for the initial 2 years.  By this time, the rave scene was growing and the frequent exposure led her to the  house music/electronica scene.  Her collection grew and so did her desire to play.

In the early 2000s, she played alongside such names such as Donald Glaude, Joey Mazzola, Ellen Ferrato, Felix da Housecat, Garth & Jeno, as well as guest spots on the LIVE 105 Subsonic show.  Many great events ensued as best friends, Chris n' Chris, tag-teamed their way to guest spots up and down the California coast, as well as local venues such as 1015 Folsom, Kelly's Mission Rock, The End Up, Wish bar, 111 Minna, and Mighty.

In 2010, lil' chris, Trevor, & Henry started a local collective called STiRTy, featuring friends and resident DJs: Raydeus, Trev, Pieter Rizen, CaseyDC, Gabriel & O'Henry.  They hosted regular monthlies for a few years, representing the best of underground Techno/Tech House/Breaks/Deep House.  During the summertime STiRTy hosts their annual campout, BoomBoomWoods (BBW), which is approaching it's 14th year.   In recent years, she has been invited as a guest for Green Gorilla Lounge, Strategik, FnF, and BooBs for Beats.  Her fist pumpin' style has thick groove elements spanning through a variety of bouncy genres. Lil' chris always has the highest regard for connection through her music...always highlighting warmth, friendship, understanding, and happiness amongst her listeners.

Currently, her top priority is her 9 yr. old son, but finding that delicate balance between being a mother and a dedicated DJ, is a challenge, but she aspires to apply herself 100% to both crafts and kickass while doing so.
