Phutureprimitive is the moniker of Bay Area producer and songwriter Rain. Early childhood photos reveal Rain sitting at the piano plinking keys, grinning from ear to ear… a true sign of things to come. Continuing his early fascination, Rain was later drawn to electronic music, inspired by its ability to combine the best of organically played instruments and the synthetic pleasures of sounds more exotic to the human ear. After beginning a DJ career in the 90s, Rain began incorporating the music he was making in his home studio into his DJ sets. That was all it took to trigger a full blown love affair with electronic music and the process of its creation... and Phutureprimitive was born.

Phutureprimitive's music is best described as dripping wet love drops of nasty mind melting sonic bliss. Lush melodies drift across intricate rhythms, groove heavy beats and warm, fuzzy bass lines. Often exploring a dark and dense palette, there is also a profound sense of tranquility and beauty, engaging the listener into hypnotic movement and often escalating into a full-on kinetic experience. Shimmering with cinematic qualities, his music ultimately speaks to the body, mind and soul.

Despite electronic music's tendency to suffer a short shelf life, Phutureprimitive has already demonstrated a timeless quality with his debut album "Sub Conscious" on Waveform Records, which remains the top seller on the label since its release in 2004, obtaining a cult status among fans and collectors. With a string of singles released in the interim on various labels, the birth of Native Harmonix (Rain’s own Record Label) brought us the “Luminous” EP in 2010; delving into a lyrical based production, supported by undulating synth work and a palpable haunting texture throughout. His second full-length release “Kinetik” forged new territories of emotional electronic dance music, exploring a heavier, bass-centric sound that adds raw energy to intricately detailed tracks. "Kinetik" remains on the iTunes Top 100 Electronic Music Chart, 3 years after its release.

With a new collection of songs released in 2 parts titled “Searching for Beauty in the Darkest Places,” he takes ideas from his previous releases and supercharges them with hard-hitting dancefloor appeal, while maintaining the depth and prowess this trusted producer is so well known for. His first national headlining tour in Fall 2013 debuted his collaboration with ritual dancer Caeli La. The tour launched with the release of their first official music video, "Lucid Dream," a collaboration with multi-media production team Vinton Depiction & Michael Miller, the animation/visual effects creator behind NBC's "Grimm." The Dance Out Your Demons Tour featured an interactive game, in which the audience members write down a "demon," fear, or something they are letting go of on a piece of duct tape, stick it to the bottom of their shoe, and then "dance out their demons." Due to the success of DOYD, Phutureprimitive announced that they will continue to incorporate the game on future tours.

Since launching the Datsik brand, Troy Beetles continues to evolve as a solo artist all the while pushing his beloved bass music world to new lengths, both on a personal artistry level and as a genre as a whole. From bedroom producer to chart-topping artist, internationally touring act, and owner and founder of the enterprising Firepower Records, Datsik is poised to make bass music the sound of the future with his recent Down 4 My Ninjas EP (Nov. 2014 / Firepower Records) and upcoming release Smoke Bomb ft. Snoop Dogg (Nov. 2015 / Ultra Records). 

Datsik took his initial steps into global dominance in 2009 with his first official release, the Nuke ‘Em EP, which set the new precedence of the future of dubstep and bass music. Immediately following that was the Boom EP featuring Excision and the legendary Flux Pavilion as collaborators. In that same year, Datsik claimed 10 Beatport #1 releases. Additionally, he has also released massive remixes for dance music icons Skrillex, Diplo, Kaskade, and Zedd, as well as two collaborations with Bassnectar and two more with Diplo on his Express Yourself EP. He has also remixed artists from the mainstream pop world and hip-hop spheres such as Coldplay, Lil Wayne, MGMT, Linkin Park, Wu-Tang Clan, one of the biggest influences on his sound, and, most recently, Lana Del Rey.

Nonetheless, Vitamin D, his debut artist album released on Dim Mak Records in 2012, remains his gleaming trophy of work. Rightfully so, as Vitamin D was the first project to illustrate the full spectrum of Datsik’s production cannon and to give glimpses of the artist’s potential as a producer and songwriter. Vitamin D was the first major milestone of many to come in the Datsik storyline. The next chapter came in 2013 in the form of a two-part release, the Cold Blooded EP and the corresponding Let It Burn full-length album, both released on Firepower. While shorter in length, Cold Blooded packs as much a punch as big brother Let It Burn. Hand in hand, Cold Blooded and Let It Burn comprise the knockout one-two punch in Datsik’s artillery.

Datsik stands at a point of transition with his recent EP Down 4 My Ninjas. It exemplifies a more mature Datsik, both in sound and in vision, as it sees the producer taking vast steps outside of dubstep and deeper into his ever-burning fondness for hip-hop. In essence, it is his love letter to the hip-hop and bass music genres and sees a full circle for Datsik as it combines the best of both worlds. Featuring collaborations with DJ Paul of renowned Southern rap group Three 6 Mafia and the legendary KRS-One, Down 4 My Ninjas sees Datsik keeping one foot in bass and one foot in hip-hop and, for the first time ever, sees the artist pairing his original productions with bona fide, universally celebrated members of the rap world. 

With Down 4 My Ninjas in tow and a hefty supporting tour scheduled for 2015, expectations are higher than they’ve ever been for Datsik. Beetles welcomes the challenge, though. It’s what’s kept him developing since those bedroom producer days, and it’s what verifies Datsik as one of the leading figures in the bass music scene of today and tomorrow.

The trio known as Ternion Sound was born out of the Infrasound Music Festival in 2016 when producers Andrew, Aric, and Jack joined forces for an impromptu set on the Beach Stage. Their chemistry was infectious, and immediately obvious. When the three reconvened at a shared studio in Minneapolis, MN it was clear their bond was meant for more than just one festival set. The trio began producing together with the goal of respecting the UK sound, while simultaneously implementing their own production styles.

Ternion Sound embodies sound system culture. From the music they produce, to the live sets they DJ, to the intentionality they deliver, to the community they continue to develop in Minneapolis which then spreads to the rest of the World. The group is known for being at the forefront of sound design capability, which can be heard in each and every release. They also believe music education is of the utmost importance, as it has played such an integral role in their own growth. 

Since the group’s first live appearance in 2016, they’ve been able to captivate the international dubstep community with releases on Duploc, Artikal, Chestplate, Deep Dark & Dangerous, Next Level, 1985, and Gourmet Beats. Their music has been supported by scene heavyweights such as Digital Mystikz, Mala, Truth, Caspa, Youngsta, Joker, D Double E, Distance, J:Kenzo, Bukez Finezt, Joe Nice, and many more. During 2019 the group went on its first international tour playing at Outlook Festival plus 8 shows in the UK, Netherlands, France, and Austria combined.

Since returning to the dance floor in the post pandemic era, the group quickly picked back up where they left off, resuming their heavy touring schedule across every corner of the North American territory. 2022 also included a brief return to Europe after having the privilege of bringing the underground sound to Asia, kicking off the international stretch in Tokyo.  Aiming to continue to pour gas on the 2022 fire, the crew spent the first 4 months of 2023 out on the road providing direct support to Yheti on nearly 40 ‘Knew Sound Tour’ stops.  Following the conclusion of the tour in May, the three have been enjoying some down time supplemented by Summer festival appearances at The Untz, Forbidden Kingdom, Sonic Bloom, and of course Infrasound. The Infrasound set, which was captured from an astonishing 14 camera angles including aerial drone footage, is now available to relive on the group’s YouTube channel. Aside from continuing to crush seasonal self-designed merchandise runs, the guys have been working tirelessly to level up innovative new ways of capturing their performances in order to deliver the visceral Ternion Sound live experience to fans in the comfort of their own homes.

Astonishingly, the first half of 2023 was only the appetizer for the remainder of the year.  The trio unveiled their long-awaited collaboration with Bukez Finezt, The Return – the first release of 2023 and one of four tracks off a brand-new collaborative EP out on Deadbeats in July.  As for the Fall and Winter of this year, the trio are putting the finishing touches on an exclusive concept tour featuring a beloved co-headliner that aims to emphasize three core values for attendees: sound, experience, and atmosphere.  For fans yearning for more new music, fear not; there’s plenty more on the way: it may or may not be coming all at once, in extended form and marks an anxiously awaited first for Ternion Sound.
