Another composition recorded before the war. I hope one day I will return to my home studio. Any support from you is much appreciated on these extremely hard times for our country, our family. 
I could have recorded much new music for the last 9 months... unless russians came to our yard to "save" us with their tanks, missiles, bombs and war planes at 4 a.m. on Feb 24th. And yes, they saved us from our house, from our normal life, from our dreams and plans. They saved my elderly parents from their home and peaceful life in retiring, saved my daughter from happy childhood, from school, from her friends and vacation by the sea. We'll never forget and never forgive it! I'm sure that russia will get what it deserves - each rocket they launch on Ukraine will turn to another 10 years of disaster for their cowardly people.

I arrived in London in early ‘71 and landed on the Holland Road, Shepherd’s Bush not long after.
My good pal Julie Lewis (from Durham) with whom I’d worked with in Sydney, had digs there and invited me to stay. Nonetheless I found it a challenging place to be after Sydney, Summer, beaches, family and gigs. Amongst Julie’s record collection was Nick Drake’s 'Bryter Later' which brought solace to me as I often felt very alone and completely at a loss as to how to navigate London town.

Years later I was to learn that Freddie Mercury was living just a few doors down from us on the Holland Road...no I never knew him...but when I wrote the lyric it seemed apt to pay homage to Freddie and our collective dreams. I’m so happy with Cripple Club’s interpretation of the lyrics, bringing to life a musical collage that depicts the highs and lows of living on the Holland Road through my first cold winter! From my heart; thank you Terry & Gary Reeves; you are two soulful & gifted brothers; I feel so indebted to you both and to Hans Albers for his powerful musical contributions. Some time ago, I needed to do some thinking about my DTM system and was reviewing my music data.  At that time, I suddenly noticed this song by Mrs Rhymes.  About a year ago, I think.  I had a preliminary recording of my guitar to go along with this wonderful piece.  Remembering that, I played it back and listened.  I didn't like my guitar playing, even though it was just a temporary recording for notes.  I don't think the sounds and phrases I used at that time match the original song.  Compared to that, the original song is still great.  So I grabbed my guitar and started recording.  A few hours later, I was in the process of uploading my freshly finished work here.

The key of this song is C#, and I think that what we should be aware of as a performance style is "B♭m/C# pentatonic".
I do not mix tapping, sweeping, or other fancy playing techniques in my guitar playing with this outstanding piece. I tried to keep the accompaniment very simple. This excellent piece, which I picked up as an example this time, will be finished with two things in mind: "B♭m/C# pentatonic". However, in a blues scale song, one song uses four pentatonic forms. Therefore, first of all, I believe that it is very important to be aware of "two things" on a daily basis and to practice guitar playing repeatedly.

And before we understand it in words, what we value most is the encounter with works and artists that we can continue to enjoy playing along with our favorite music as many times as we want, even ten times if necessary. Right?

About thirty years ago, I lived on a boulevard with incessant and very noisy road traffic. This artery was used dozens of times by emergency vehicles going to the emergency room near my home. And to top it off, the rooms of the apartment I rented were adjoining the delivery dock of a supermarket. Hell!
My next door neighbors were an elderly couple who had lived there forever. When I asked them if the noise didn't bother them, they both replied "Ah but not at all! We're used to it and we couldn't live without it, that reassures us!"
You will therefore have understood that this burlesque blues is for them who would certainly not have supported living in the countryside.

Il y a plus de trente ans, j'ai habité sur un boulevard au trafic routier incessant et très bruyant. Cette artère était empruntée des dizaines de fois par les véhicules de secours qui se rendaient aux urgences près de chez moi. Et pour combler le tout, les chambres de l'appartement que je louais étaient mitoyennes avec le quai de livraison d'un supermarché. L'enfer!
Mes voisins de palier étaient un couple de personnes âgées qui vivait là depuis toujours. Quand je leur est demandé si le bruit ne les dérangeait pas, ils m'ont répondu tous les deux "Ah mais pas du tout! On a l'habitude et on ne pourrait plus s'en passer, ça nous rassure!"
Vous aurez donc compris que ce blues burlesque est pour eux qui n'auraient certainement pas supporté de vivre à la campagne.
