With over 15 years of experience as a rock and jazz drummer, having played in numerous bands across the vibrant music scenes of San Francisco and New York City, Lily Ray ventured into the world of underground electronic music and began DJ'ing in 2012.  Distinguished by their percussion-focused soundscapes, where harmonious melodies intertwine with deep, resonant bass lines, intoxicating vocals, and ethereal tones drawn from around the world, her DJ sets and dedication have led to many inspiring travels and shows across the globe. Currently Lily Ray holds a residency at the popular Brooklyn venue Keybar and has played at popular nightclubs in NYC including the Brooklyn Mirage, Elsewhere, the Panther Room, as well as European venues such as Berlin's Renate zur den Wilden. 

A true musical chameleon, Lily Ray delights in exploring an eclectic array of genres in her sets. She effortlessly transitions from the depths of melodic house to the laid-back grooves of downtempo and trip-hop, from the smooth sophistication of jazz-infused tracks to the irresistible energy of disco remixes, and even into the relentless drive of big room techno. Pushing the boundaries of her craft even further she is working on incorporating live drumming and intricately layered percussion samples into her DJ sets and productions.

Lily Ray started her journey as a musician in the early 2000s as a rock drummer in San Francisco bands Two Seconds and Elephone. She performed at major festivals such as SXSW and BFD, and released albums on  the labels Popsmear Records and Talking House Productions.

After moving to New York in 2008, Lily has continued to perform in various indie rock bands while also finding opportunities to transition her music production into the electronic music community. This evolution ultimately led her towards learning how to DJ, a logical transition after a lifetime of creating and perfecting unique rhythms. 

She now brings her deep, dancey DJ sets to venues around New York City, including clubs such as The Panther Room, the Tribeca Grand, TBA Brooklyn, Bizarre, Bossa Nova Civic Club, and many underground parties. She also has a monthly residency at the popular East Village club, Keybar. 

Lily is currently experimenting with incorporating live electronic drumming into her productions. The great-grand-niece of the artist Man Ray, she is hugely inspired philosophy and way of life presented by the Dada movement, and channels this through all of her musical pursuits.
