ESOPUS 14: PROJECTS (Spring 2010) was filled with contemporary artists' projects by the likes of John Baldessari, Roxy Paine, and Judy Pfaff. For the issue's themed audio compilation, we invited musicians to create a song inspired by the artist of their choice. Sharon Van Etten created this evocative, layered track about the work of L.A.–based Gothic/Surrealist painter Esao Andrews, who happens to also be a friend of the singer-songwriter.
