Cerebration: the working of the brain/thinking

I rap about drugs and how some of us use them therapeutically to give ourselves a temporary vacation from reality (alternative expanded awareness), or to try and find some deeper spiritual meaning/sense of the universe. 

Although if used with positive intent (instead of being abused as a crutch) they can still only scratch the surface of existence...If we're willing to dig deeper within ourselves and cultivate new abilities outside of the norm we can always find the answers lying within.

Most of us have an experience with them, whether in the form of socially accepted ones (alcohol, caffeine, pharmaceuticals or nicotine) or the - quote...unquote - illegal ones.

To balance and heal is my main cause
Close wounds that separate me from source
Not ready to stop chemical assistance
But in time it can happen with persistence
Right now, it’s a welcome addition
To aid in my own spiritual attrition

I wish this heightened state could stay
Break thought loops, no more groundhog day
No permanent answers to be found here
But a glimpse of a way out is made clear
So I take it for the gift that it is

Cos I know drugs are the last resort
But that battles fought, so I change port
Reconnect to the omniscient force

Mental stimulation, spiritual vibration
Higher planes of being pivotal realisation

Freebass was a band formed in 1990 by 3 friends from Mt Waverley High School in Melbourne Australia. Putting in a solid 5 years of song writing and gigging around Melbourne, the band eventually took a break after their drummer left. Each person went into different projects and the band never reformed, but remained friends. Now 20 years later the time was right to have a crack at rerecording our original material with today's technology. 
Tony Paul on vocals, Andrew Walter on Bass and Murray Burchett on Guitars and Drums are back doing what brought them together in the first place............
