Another clear highlight is his partnering with our second label boss for ‘Powder Coated’ - the perfect mix of London Elektricity soul and Krakota power.

‘Half Life’ is a reminder back to the massive dancefloor damage caused by ‘Ice Hands’, ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Xylo’ last year. Its gritty split of siren calls and deep bouncing bass hits in all the right places. Krakota's musical edge shows in ‘Elastic’ with funk flare and horns hailing. ‘North Winds’ and ‘Turn of Fate’ blend arcade style synth work with crackles of white noise.

A consistently brilliant producer, Krakota’s carved out his own style over the past few years getting his name noticed on dancefloors around the UK and Europe. He's received support from the likes of BBC Radio 1's Friction and well remembered for his tear out live mix on BBC Radio 1Xtra's Soundclash in 2015. His solitary stance in the drum & bass world has been making waves and that’s sure to continue with his outstanding debut album ‘Strange System’.

Kicking things off with “Typical Things”, we go back in time to the iconic sounds of the Musique Concrete album. ‘It’s been nine years since my first release on Dispatch Recordings (Structure made with Skeptical). In that time I’ve featured on so many releases with some great producers (DLR, Homemade Weapons, Black Barrel, Dub Head, Tephra & Arkoze, Bredren). I have built a back catalogue of music that I’m incredibly proud of. It’s with great pleasure that I can now present my own project – the Frequencies EP.

This is the culmination of over two years of work – what started as a collaboration with Test Switch has grown to become a varied collection of tracks featuring some of my close friends and allies within the scene. The title track – Frequencies – is a particularly poignant moment as I have known Ben for nearly 15 years. He was the first promoter to offer me a proper residency, and I continue to play at his night – the Bristol-based ‘Intrigue’ – to this day.

This EP has allowed me to showcase my versatility as an artist. I’ve balanced the more aggressive lyrical styles (something for the heads that like to hear an MC spit!) with the catchy dance floor rollers and some laid back, conscious grooves. Whatever you are into, I’d like to think you will find it here.

‘Frequencies’ is also a pivotal moment in my career as – for the first time – I am the lead artist as opposed to a ‘feature’. This scene can sometimes undervalue the role of the MC, and I think it’s critical that we are recognised as artists within our own rights.

However, I am completely aware that without the hard work of the producers involved, there would be no music. I cannot make tracks on my own; I do not claim to be a producer. It’s a team effort, and I only work with people that I get along with, where there is mutual respect. I am super grateful to all of the guys for the beats they’ve made.

Teaming up with New Zealand based singer/songwriter, and no stranger to Hospital Records, Thomas Oliver brings his infectiously enlivening vibe to ‘Sunflowers’. Pulsing sub basses, crisp breaks and a warm piano pair perfectly with the blissful vocals of Thomas Oliver. Other notable collaborations on the album include Whiney & Ebson on ‘Unreachable’, Etherwood on the well-received single ‘Fall Beneath You’ and rising star Telomic on ‘Listen Close’.

Keeno’s dedication to crafting his own unique sound has not gone unnoticed. His remarkable productions have been supported by esteemed tastemakers, including a ‘Self-Certified Selection’ from MistaJam on BBC Radio 1, plays from Rene LaVice and his music being aired across the UK airwaves from 1Xtra to 6Music. On top of this, Keeno also hosts his widely renowned ‘Bristol Mix Series’ streams showcasing the very best established and upcoming talent in drum & bass. The success of his ‘Bristol Mix Series’ has led to his very own bi-weekly residency at Basement 45 in Bristol, where you’ll be able to catch Keeno spinning the latest D+B to his socially-distanced devotees.
