It is time for another dose of a stupendous & quality filled release here on Perplexity Music, this time coming from US based talent, Kono (USA). It's a pleasure to have him back here with another 3 track EP titled 'Moku/Petrichor' which would be a journey into the unknown but all will be explained the moment you hit play.  

The first track, 'Moku' is a delightful number to begin with as it highlights what the EP is about & the story behind its title.  You are treated to a host of sun ladened melodies that start off from the moment you press play, illuminating your mind & preparing you for a dazzling production that streams out good feelings & pleasant musings. Moku, a little place of heaven off the Hawaiian coast, a place where the water is as blue as the nightly sky & the sun as blazing as can be, that is where you are transported to from your daily lives; to this exotic & riveting destination. The energetic & subdued synths work well with the overall floating elements of the crisp vocal chops, bringing in flavour & colour to this already extraordinary work of art. A delicate piano line is used for a tender touch to lighten up this exquisite piece bringing it all to soothing & peaceful end; coaxing the lustrous Hawaiian breeze right to you.

There has been a dry spell of weather, but all of a sudden, the rain pours down & engulfs everything in sight, for however long that is. Suddenly, it's bright again & slowly the rain water is drying off, leaving this pungent & dense smell in the air, almost refreshing, as if the pores of rain that are drying are evaporating all around & you can smell it; that, that is 'Petrichor'. As refreshing as the word itself , you can feel that new & untouched feeling of everything being cleansed by the way the gorgeous melody kicks in right away alongside the subtle but strong percussion. The bell like chimes add in that authenticity, with the powerful chord work protruding through to heartfelt sounds. Almost like a rising tide, the breakdown serenades you into oblivion by the light piano lines that purge everything that is dark, leading you into the light before the full extent of the fluttering melody really launches in with the well placed vocal chops; that's when you know you've felt it & tasted it, the freedom after the rain.  

Canadian talent Martin Peter brings in his impressive musical artillery for a divine remix of 'Moku', luring you in with the slow & deep chords that spark wonder yet positivity. This beautiful remix really focuses on the sweet melodies from the original, using a great range of chord accentions & vocal  chops to enhance the smooth & delicate textures of it. It is vibrant & welcoming, really being one to warm up those blistering & fast approaching winter nights with the right blend of rhythm & melody that works strategically, again taking you away to the warm Moku air that surrounds you.

Another EP that has blown us away & we hope that you felt the same range of emotions that these prodigious artists have managed to extract from the deepest parts of us. It's always viable to learn something new, whether through music or life itself, but we hope you gained not only this intoxicating music that runs in tune with our heartbeats but also a place of contentment & belonging in the mere form of words. American producer Will Canas is back on the sunny shores of sunsetmelodies and his progressive sound oozes a lust for Summer. Heading back to his trance roots, he’s created “Southbound”, a mesmerising and all-encapsulating tune that will have you gasping for the cooling breeze. Be guided through the tune by its compelling melody and basslines that enable you to get lost on a journey.

Canadian Andrew Lang has demonstrated his talents once again and his take on “Southbound” is one that is evocative and inspiriting. Driving percussion lines and massive leads are a signature and with a breakdown as sweet and warm as this you can’t go wrong.  The light vocal hues and piano melodies sweep through the track as beautifully as the sunset.

Keeping to the entrancing sound are The Antipodes – an up-and-coming Italian trance duo that know how to hypnotise. Consisting of Danish-born (LA-based) producer Tim McEwan and NYC-based singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle, The Midnight have emerged in recent years as a veritable leader of the synthwave resurgence. More specifically, the duo have received generous support from legions of synthwave enthusiasts, as well as more casual synth-pop fans, ever since their aesthetic-defining debut EP "Los Angeles" (2014). Their subsequent LP offering, "Endless Summer" (2016), cemented the duo's reputation as one of the finest new synthwave acts, a sentiment that musical legends (Chicane), renowned artist peers (FM-84), and prominent genre hubs (NewRetroWave) have graciously reinforced of late. The Midnight Remixed, one of our most ambitious releases to date, features brand new remixes by a distinguished group of Silk Music veterans, whose melodic and atmospheric sound has significantly helped to define our brand. We've also recruited a few famed nonresident label contributors, including Lifelike and Michael Cassette, whose specific compositional gifts and musical legacies seemed especially apropos to this 80s-influenced endeavor.

The Midnight Remixed showcases breathtaking new interpretations of The Midnight's past work, ranging in style from drum & bass and deep house to trance & progressive. Michael Cassette, Johan Vilborg, Dezza, Lifelike, PROFF, Terry Da Libra, Sundriver, and Talamanca's exhilarating, club-oriented interpretations feature rapturous chords, and, of course, Tyler's mellifluous and infectious vocal hooks. Offerings from Marsh, Vintage & Morelli, eleven.five, and Mango vs. We Are All Astronauts convey a deeper and more introspective musical tone, but are nonetheless equally memorable.
