For many the holidays are a time to connect with family, which can be warm and beautiful. They can also be fraught with drama, internally or externally. But the holidays can also be an opportunity to see where our hooks are more clearly and to practice mudita and compassion.

Karma is action in Buddhism, driven by intention. With practice we cultivate the ability to choose our response and our actions, internally and externally. We might think our intentions are good and so our actions will follow, but our intentions are often under the influence of strong conditioning that prevents us from living our choices. But with practice, we can find our way to greater freedom.
