'Ukulele Makemake (OO-koo-leh-leh MAH-keh-MAH-keh) is Hawaiian for "Ukulele Wish", signifying the desire of the sound of the ukulele.  I saw it as a fitting name, considering that I wanted to find a decent ukulele sample for a while now.  With my new keyboard, the Roland FA-06, I discovered that one of the nylon guitar patches sounded much like an ukulele when strumming at higher pitches.

That became the basis for this originally unplanned song.  After adding semi-traditional Hawaiian elements, such as the pedal steel guitar to accompany the ever-present ukulele, I added an atmospheric flute for a melody.  A bit of jazz-blues playing on piano and a shuffle-styled percussion line helped complete the piece.  Enjoy!
