The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony (Living Future Edit)

The first in a series of 12 edit’s I’ll be releasing over the next 12 months. 

I remember playing this track on CD through our home hi-fi system many years ago - that ‘Urban Hymns’ album cover still lives vividly in my mind. It was one of the first records I remember listening to on repeat, long before I really even knew anything about genres, listening with a certain kind of purity. 

A few months ago, a colleague from the events world asked me to do some audio engineering work for a conference and one of the tracks he wanted was Bittersweet Symphony. It felt like more than coincidence; I was already planning to start releasing edits, and it seems the universe has a way of sending us signs.

While creating this edit, I was struck by something that I still can’t quite put my finger on, perhaps just a deeper appreciation for the original. Some of the lyrics really spoke to me more than they ever had before too.

“I need to hear some sounds that recognise the pain in me yea, I let the melody shine let it cleanse my mind I feel free now”
