Anthony Georges Patrice's music is nothing constant and stable as it aims to explore rather then succeed. The well acclaimed Parallel Romance even though being the one piece that may be remembered by most, represents only a fraction of the field attempted to be covered throughout the experience. Taking roots closer to the soul centered movements of Electronic Music, having as first influences artists like Sun Orchestra, Masters At Work and Glenn Underground, the musical taste and interest slowly shifted to a more essentialist direction while keeping a profound fascination for Detroit legends such as Rick Wade, Omar S, or even Carl Craig. The battle between explicit melodies and repetitive tools had now begun, the dance of the soul and the mind had now made its first step. From there started an exploration which is intended to never find an end, to never find a final destination, but which is lead by the strong hands of the Deep Spirit which represents the common factor, or the Ariadnes Thread to the journey. A sort of safety road map to follow in case the experiment turned bad.

Here, the exploration of Deep unfolds a new chapter releasing a rather muscular « Baby » and a thoughtful « Change », with the idea in mind to pay tribute without intending to reproduce to the exact same things which had already been done. This EP relates to the intensity that the emotion of Love can infuse into our lives, and the need for us to embrace and initiate the change for it to be appreciated as it is intends to be.

The word organic often comes into mind when you hear MLiR's music. They blend together a whole new universe of sounds, analog vs organic, samples vs field recordings; always telling a story and impossible to categorize under one genre. Einar Christoffersson and Marco Gegenheimer have since 2014 released records on Studio Barnhus, Local Talk, Internasjonal and Compost Records. Their remix of Change is a stunning 131 bpm dance-floor bomb, organic and exotic sounds mixed with acid.

Four slices of polyrhythmic bass and breaks. 

"Split EP is the result of conversation between two work colleagues swapping and sharing tracks while on shift, finding common interest in music that takes the core stylistic markers of drum and bass and breaks it down into new and exciting forms. The result is a venn diagram of Lithe and NORA DRUM’s individual sounds, often overlapping and feeding back into the other but distinctly their own. 

Lithe’s contribution is markedly lighter in tone. Opener ‘It’s Rhythm’ is an upbeat, hard drum-inflected take on polyrhythmic drum and bass with pitched percussion and wobbling sub bass. The follow up ‘Second Pavilion’ is a lengthy, progressive take on liquid drum and bass that sits somewhere between fast techno and the composition style of Forest Drive West. 

NORA DRUM takes an introspective turn on their half of the EP with both tracks allowing space for mood and texture. ‘Lungfish’ is a rolling dark d&b number where polyrhythms encourage the listener to stop worrying about meter and give in to the feel of the track, with chaotic breaks on the back end that offer little respite. Closer ‘I Can Tell That You’re Trying’ is the heaviest of the four, with a deep, weighty lumber that crescendos into distorted amens and hoover bass."

Basilica now moves deeper and darker into the realms of heavy and complex percussion based dance music, with this installment, BSC003. Coming from Australia, Basilica’s newest family member - Lithe.

Lithe is quickly rising the ranks with a signature style combining complex hardware percussion rhythms creating rolling and sharp grooves layered with dark techno ambiences and spaces.
The Not a Pessimist EP is a journey of intensity, rise and fall and journey. The pace of each track is set from the get go yet as each piece progresses you find your body moving, changing and rising and falling with each subtle element added and taken away so smoothly it hits you on a subconscious level.

Lithe’s sharp and relentless percussion work engulfs you with push and pull, energy, space and power and, in turn, transforms the listener by hypnotically grooving through the flawless percussion, combinations and strength.

Lithe's work has gained attention and support from labels such as Early Reflex, Flood and Enhancer. Expect to see much more of Lithe both in Australia and worldwide.

Sharp, pounding percussion, with layer upon layer adding more vibe, more groove and more rhythm into this web of heavy driven sound. Drawing for a mixture of sonic textures from dancehall grooves and hardstyle synths this unrelenting blend of drums and atmospherics fully entrances you in a mesmerising plane of sonics. This is definitely one to lose yourself in at 3am.

The latest signing on Iptamenos Discos is the stunning debut EP by Dina Summer that features remixes by Black Light Smoke, Wiener Planquadrat & Time To Sleep. Fronted by Greek native Dina P., 'Dina Summer’ is a collaborative band project by the producer Kalipo and the DJ/producer couple Local Suicide.

After performing on local radio stations as a teenager, Dina began making waves as one of the first female DJs in Thessaloniki while also pursuing her studies at University. She later moved to Berlin where she met her husband with whom she formed the duo Local Suicide. The powerhouse has made a name for themselves releasing on labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Lumière Noire, Ombra INTL, TAU & more. Through their exploits, Beatport declared them as one of the key figures in the uprising dark disco scene. Around 2013 they met Bavarian born Kalipo while raving at Rock am Ring festival. At the time he was performing at the festival with his band, Frittenbude who are famous in German speaking countries for their unique mix of electro, punk & rap. Kalipo recently released his critically acclaimed fourth long player on KI Records which features artists such as Rampue, Ira Atari Oberst & Buchner & more.

It wasn’t until 2019 that the trio finally starting working on music together. The result was a unique blend of late ‘90s electro with elements of ’80s disco and new wave.

Their first outing ‘Who Am I’ is a new wave / disco-hymn consisting of German & English vocals. They’re accompanied by stomping drums and a beautiful synthesised melody laid over a synth-arp that maintains the tracks momentum.

The Club Version of ‘Who Am I’ is slightly faster and hits a little harder. In this track one can clearly hear the trio's infamous ‘technodisco’ sound at work. The drums still stomp but with more depth and the synth-arp has a more rugged texture when compared to that of the original version.

The B-Side, titled ‘Fortune Teller’, is a groovy dance-floor bomb with nasty moroder-ish bass-arps, epic strings, spoken word elements and a slick breakdown followed by a banging and cascading drop that sucks in and hypnotises listeners.

Legendary US producer & composer Jordan Lieb aka Black Light Smoke’s take on ‘Fortune Teller’ turns the tune into a deep electro weapon with a wobbling bass-lines that ride perfectly with the drums and groovy synths. The glitchy vocals and the ominous sound of the strings give this track an awesomely dark atmosphere.

Austrian duo Wiener Planquadrat - who recently released their debut single ‘Stillstand’ on Iptamenos Discos - transform ‘Who Am I’ into a masterpiece reminiscent of Soulwax’s iconic sound. This is emphasised by the dirty and bouncy groove, rugged tones and drums that are sure to make your body snap along with them.

Croatian producer Time To Sleep, who recently released tracks on Disco Halal, Permanent Vacation & more, delivers a glitchy 128BPM dub techno re-interpretation of 'Who Am I' with driving drums and a rolling bass-line that doesn’t let up. It’s filled with warm reverb filled percussion and an ethereal synth lead mid way through that makes you feel as though you’re floating while rounding off the EP in a beautiful manner.

This stunning EP’s versatile sound is sure to attract a variety of listeners and selectors while turning heads around the globe. The EP will be released on a strictly-limited clear Dubplate 12” and made available digitally on all platforms.
