New York, early 90's, the haydays of the New York and Jersey clubhouse!  With labels such as NuGroove, Nervous, Freeze, Strictly Rhythm, Henry Street Music taking all the spot light, there is Jovonn working on a small but sensational catalogue of music that somehow gets overshadowed by the popular releases on the mentioned labels. The honest productions, jazzy melodies and playful vocals (rooted in gospel) were taking things into a more musical, more spiritual way, lacking gimmicks or dispensable samples. For the real diggers, the true lovers of House music Jovonn always was a name to watch, a producer of some of their favorite NY house tracks, tracks that have a raw edge combined with a sincere human touch and pure underground house vibes.
People such as Rex resident Dj Deep was a huge fan, and also collaborated on couple later productions with Jovonn. Slowly he started getting recognition from europe which resulted in a handfull of records on European labels such as Distance, Coco Soul and Estereo. Now after almost 25 years since his first release the man's small discography on his own Goldtone label and Emotive records stand out with his unique musical personality.
More then 20 years after their original release dates these tunes are still very relevant and stand for many things we love about house music!
We are happy to offer this selection of his hard to find early works remastered by Alden Tyrell and pressed on fresh clean high quality vinyl.

Deejay/producer, Chicago House purist, JR From Dallas draws his influences from jackin, deep and tech-house, but keeping that 90's house oldschool beat.

His tracks have been played by the finest's underground house djs such as Mark Farina, Phil Weeks, Hector Moralez, 1200 Warriors, Nick Holder, Roger Sanchez …

In 2007, he launches his label GOURMAND MUSIC RECORDINGS signing essentially american artists but also european talents. Gourmand's roster includes Giano, Cubase Dan, Tommy Largo, Bart Ricardo, Masss and Dave Dubbz just to name a few.

In 2011, Phil Weeks discovers him and signs him to Robsoul Recordings where he released a successful EP. That same year, JR From Dallas entered the family of the legendary american label TANGO RECORDINGS

Little Routine #48  - Darius Kramer - Vancourcer,BC  

Darius is a self proclaimed "House Addict". He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early '90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio. He was hooked from then on. He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a cassette player and never looked back. When he moved to Vancouver in the late '90's, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records. Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and even ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves. Today, Darius is happily married with a young son, but his love for house music hasn't died. He is still busy putting out mixes and in 2015 is doing some exclusive guest mixes for International house collectives such as Little Routine in France, and Reason2Funk in England. His sets have been described as "organic" and his love for jazz is prevalent in all of his mixes.

Growing up in an environment where experimental music was part of everyday life, prompted Trilce to explore musical sounds that only have select access ears, adhering to this that his foray into music happened at an early age, this artist has a repertoire of internal sounds that many would like.

The division of genres pose no barrier to her because, as she puts it: Reggae, Soul Indie and have no place in his record collection, accompanied by a variety of genres more. Among the favorite instruments are percussion Trilce, including percussion Indian origin since settled in this country for just over half a year.

Was the legendary Berghain club in Berlin which enabled achieving the power button electronic music within Trilce since, from this visit, his journey as a DJ and would begin to share the booth with Frank Jr, Aristidez, Thomas Young and Noolo .

Igor Lisboa is originally from the city of Lisbon capital of Portugal, considered and appreciated for being the Mecca of electronic music of all kinds. At 16 he already borrowed the paths of the underground clubs of Lisbon. He learns a lot of DJ he has the opportunity to listen and observe for several years and developed a huge passion for electronic music. Igor has also forged in the middle of the Goa-Trance and it was in 2002 that he began learning to mix on turntables. During 7 years he traveled in Europe residing in several countries such as Spain, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, where he will discover other cultures and styles. In 2011 he puts his suitcases in Mulhouse and 3 years later he founded his Label US MUSIC. During this period he created the concept evenings BLACK CAT in Mulhouse where he managed to find for lovers of electronic music this city has real potential for underground partys

Dj born in 1988 in Ferrol (Galicia, Spain). Its highest devotion is funk, jackin 'Chicago house and a style mixer intense, dynamic, technical, based on tricks, track sets and effects, combining techniques like scratching and turntablists beatjugling in their blends due to its roots of hiphop.
His sessions have been played on American radio stations like Chicago House FM (Minneapolis) and Phillynitesradio (Philadelphia), in addition to developing other sets no less important for other groups of underground culture and record labels like "Little Routine Series" (France), "Reason2Funk Records "(United Kingdom)," in Da House Cast "(Chile)," Select Music "and the great" House Salad "(both of Mexico). In Spain also has podcast "12 inch", "Uyeney records", "Magnetic NetLabel" and the website "www.djsonline.es".
It also has shared the bill at some clubs of his region with artists the likes of Gayle San, Christian Smith, Joseph Capriati, etc ... It is currently developing in the world of production to create their own sound.

Juergen Junker should be a well established figure by now. Neurhythmics, his label, back after a 6 year hiatus has always be synonymous with quality.</b>

His own productions have always been about dusty grooves, creative sampling and very characteristic JJ sound. But, at least I feel, that he has not really gotten the credit he deserves. Just take a few moments to get acquinted with Neurhythmics &amp; Juergen Junker and I promise you won't be dissappointed.</b>

As for "Syvyyttae" mix, well, by the time the 3rd track hits you are sold. A beautiful combination of old and new, you'll instantly hear that the man has skills and an ear for quality selection. </b>

A Chicago transplant in the Wild West, Dee-Jay Shuga is a lover of all things house. Shuga's passion for music started in childhood, a child of two young music-loving parents with large and eclectic record collections. She was always obsessed with rhythm and dancing, and that love eventually moved her toward playing instruments. She studied classical music and composition in the late 80s and won medals for her classical flute performances. Although she gave up playing by high school, her love of music manifested itself in different forms, and in the early 90s, she discovered house music.

In 2001, Shuga married her husband, Hedspin, who was a long-time dj himself, and they used their wedding money to buy a brand new pair of Technics. By the end of the year, with a romanticized notion of playing together as a husband-and-wife team, she began to try her hand at mixing. Her approach to learning how to dj was the same as it was when she learned to play the flute: obsessive. Too embarrassed to play in front of her husband, she would mix in their basement while he was at work or out for the day, recording on a tape deck and listening to the mixes over and over again to figure out how to do better . She went from a couple minutes of clean mixing per tape to handing out her first mix CD within a year. Over time, after years of playing wide-ranging house genres and techno, she developed her own mixing style and found her signature sound: good, driving basslines, smooth vocal samples and a warm, techy feel.

In the years since she started playing, Shuga has been grateful to have shared decks and line-ups with some of the biggest names in house music. She has played everywhere from house & loft parties to outdoor events, clothing stores, bars & clubs in and around the Midwest and Chicago, including Smartbar and Zentra, and held a residency with other female djs at Lava Lounge. Recently, she has had guest mixes air on the radio in the UK, on record labels out of the US and Mexico, and on internet radio shows in the US and Canada, with a current monthly residency on Sugar Shack Radio. She has also started handling marketing and A & R for Chicago house label Orange Earth Music and will soon begin the long process of learning the art and skill of music production.

In 1997 an opportunity came up to play the music that best suited djadamt taste .. Sharkcity in midtown Toronto, a high end bar/resturant club. For nearly 3 year residency playing a wide range of House,Trance and some Techno and was featured by notable.com for Thursday nights we miss "back in the day". Currently playing at 2 downtown intimate Bar/lounge type venues Eastthirtysix and Boutique Bar. influences include Paul Oakenfold, Carl cox, Todd Terry, Adam Beyer,John Digweed, Solomun,Max Graham,Amand van Helden.

A little more about this weeks guest on Spin City:
Mister T. records is the result of the merger of Technodrone Records (the label that produced Chevals’ first EP in July 2016) and the Parisian DJ collective Partage ton Groove. With a 3-year long podcast series and several DJ residencies in Paris, Mister T. has managed to create a strong network in various styles of electronic dance music from Master Phil’s Balearic ballads to TVFROM86 warm house. Being a huge fan of Mister Saturday Night, the label’s objective is to promote emerging artists that produce party-oriented tracks such as disco, house and tropical bangers. After a solid EP of tribal edits by Leonard Lampion, they decided in 2018 to go further and to release their very first vinyl with Chevals.
