How would the original songs of Fred Astaire sound with a contemporary arrangement and sung by some of the most energetic and still sensitive singers of nowadays?

Did you ever wonder how it would sound if 1990s party heroes Right Said Fred sang a song by 1930s/1940s dance and film legend Fred Astaire?

We didn’t either. And then we just tried it. The result was mind-blowing.

So we gathered some well-known old hands of the music biz and some promising newcomers to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Fred Astaire’s death with us and record 14 contemporary versions of the old master’s songs:

• Right Said Fred („I’m too sexy“)
• Taco („Puttin’ on the Ritz“)
• Alexander Rybak (European Song Contest Winner)
• Freak Power („Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out“)

With the genre being typically upbeat and happy, Atom Smith puts his own spin on it with a moody yet interesting track in the form of STRANGE WEATHER. Our 34th Electro Swing Thing label release is a remix by Pisk from Italy, who is the producer of the Swingrowers and resident artist on Freshly Squeezed Music from UK. Pisk has lifted the funky Electro Swing original track by Wolfgang Lohr to a Disco House meets Electro Swing level. A new hook and a groovy, driving bassline give this banger soul and disco feeling and lots of funky feeling. Florent Mannant’s (Dirty Honkers) original brass riffs are once again enhanced by some sampled additions and re-arrangements. The vocals of Alanna Lyes (UK) appear in a new light and the hook has become even more modern and precise due to the deliberate minimization. Pisk has given "Upside Down" his own style and a new, fresh note!
