Lotus Wash drops his debut album on LBD Sounds, bringing a whole load of fresh material which came out from his experience as a session musician, and performing his experimental live sets around the Czech Republic. He connects the dots between classically trained musician and modular synth-head, working in Prague’s DIY shop and creative community Noise Kitchen. The album spans across 6 original tracks of pure analogue bliss and live ideas, alongside three remixes from his closest allies, local producers Oliver Torr, Vision of 1994, and Hrtl.

The Field Theory was created during a period of deep fascination with quantum physics, with the tracks being conceptually and aesthetically inspired by some of its phenomena. Acoustically, it’s mostly a slow and dark affair, with Lotus Wash only letting the light in very briefly when the sun is young (Magnetic Moment), keeping the shutter firmly closed for the rest of the record. His music does not rely on banging beats to drive it, instead letting intense grooves do the job from deep underground, just like on earth-shattering album opener Vacuum Fluctuation. He masters his craft of building atmosphere, a skill learnt during multiple collaborations with various Czech theatres. Of course, he lets the steam out occasionally, and always with devastating effect (Higgs Field, Casimir Force), but mostly choses to keep it capped, humming and hissing. When the sky clears, he opts for a minimalistic and hypnotic approach, only to disturb this peace with a killer bassline in one of the album’s highlights – Spooky Action At A Distance – later re-imagined and re-electrified by Oliver Torr. Standard Model is anything but your standard techno, while Hrtl’s remix of Magic Moment flirts with techno too, but on a dubbier and brighter side. Bringing the album to a close is Vision of 1994’s downtempo take on the same track, finally letting you breathe out.

Prague-based musician and producer @lotuswashxb1 prepares to release his quantum physics-inspired debut album 'Field Theory' through LBD Sounds (aka @littlebeatdifferent), a label operating between London and Eastern Europe.

Ethno Service, a moniker for two electronic musicians based in Prague, are here with their debut long-player ‘NMA’. Released via LBD Sounds tape series, it comprises six masterfully crafted original compositions and a couple of remixes, including an uneasy jungle rework by Exhausted Modern’s new alias Oblaka and a spaced-out ambient escapism remix by voodoo priestess Lucie aka Avsluta. It’s not an easy listening affair, broken and sometimes unnerving rhythms blended with duo’s uniquely moody atmosphere, ever morphing and taking you places you didn’t even know existed. Expect percussion-heavy tracks on a lower side of bpm spectrum. You may dive into this album horizontally, or try to find out if it’s still danceable. Is it? Sure it is!

Ethno Service - NMA [LBDTAPE007] - snippets

LBD sounds are back with a new 12" from their LBDISSUES series. This time they have a track taken from a sought after 7" single by Eva Hurychova & Jan Neckar from former Czechoslovakia, originally released in 1984, professionally remastered and with additional reinterpretations & edits.

"To Chce Mit Svuj System" is a sleazy electro disco number with its unmistakable 80s sound, instantly memorable without being too in your face. Optimo's JD Twitch comes on board with his extended edit, that stays close to original but has upgraded it for current dancefloors. Up next is a remix by Slovakian producer Tasun (who you might remember for his futuristic ethno take on ORM edits 12") that takes the original ideas into more psychedelic territories, while still keeping things danceable.

And last but not least, a newly formed duo of Oliver Torr and LBD Sounds label owner Olin, now working under Torr & Rich moniker, are here with their debut work - a pitched down 80s disco reinterpretation of "To Chce Mit Svuj System".

LBD Sounds present the new album from World Wild Web. Based in Berlin, this one man band machine from France offers up a beautiful collection of balearic jams, soaked up with instrumental psychedelic keyboards, influenced by traditional music from all over the world. 10 organ-based tracks sound like a dreamy new age voyage from the 70s, yet this music is very here and now. All the little live jams that this album comprises of have been tweaked and edited, some more and some less, but the feeling of raw improvised music has remained untouched. These don’t mean to be no chart hits, actually quite the opposite. It may almost be called a set of B-sides and it would still carry this badge as proud as it gets. It’s simple and complex at the same time, this collection has a potential to suck you in, take you for a ride through places unknown and spit you out at the other end. Was that a dream?

World Wild Web - Microcosm [LBDTAPE008] - Snippets

LBD Issues continue with their quest of reissuing music from Eastern European region previously unavailable on Western markets. The third release is a compilation that showcases the collaboration work of duo Eva Hurychová and Jan Neckář. The two met in 1982 and Eva started performing with Jan's band Bacily. Jan was already established and hugely successful musician and producer, mainly for his brother Václav, who was a real pop superstar in former Czechoslovakia and still remains very popular to this day. Eva was a composer and lyrics writer for other successful artists too. However, the duo soon started recording stuff on their own, experimenting with electronic productions and the sound not at all common for its day in Czechoslovakia. This compilation cherry-picks the tracks from various different singles released between 1984 and 1986.

Séria LBD Issues, ktorá sa zameriava na vydávanie zabudnutých nahrávok z regiónu bývaleho Československa, pokračuje v poradí tretím dielom. Je ním kompilácia výsledkov spolupráce dua Eva Hurychová a Jan Neckář. Dvojica sa stretla v roku 1982, keď Eva začala vystupovať s Honzovou kapelou Bacily. Jan bol už v tom čase úspešným muzikantom, producentom a šedou eminenciou za obrovským úspechom jeho brata Václava, ktorý je dodnes považovaný za jednu z najpopulárnejších osobností československého popu. Eva už taktiež mala za sebou skladateľské a textárske spolupráce s inými velikánmi vtedajšej scény ako Michal David, či duo Hložek / Kotvald. Jej kolaborácia s Janom Neckářom sa ale uberala úplne iným smerom. Dvojica upustila od písania prvoplánových rádiových hitov a začala experimenovať s elektronickými nástrojmi a futuristickým zvukom, ktorý v tej dobe produkoval málokto. A práve táto kompilácia prináša tie najzaujímavejšie plody ich spolupráce, ktoré vyšli na singloch v rozmedzí rokov 1984 až 1986.

Rico 909 - Extended Versions EP [LBDIGITAL009EP]

This manic EP is a taster for the new LBD Sounds tape from RICO 909, an alias of an artist from Italy. He created all this stuff circa 1998, when he was a teenager, between (less) sleeping, partying and (more) wanking, using some pirated software on his dad's computer. He didn't really know much about dance music production and what he was really doing and neither do we. All we know we like it as raw as it gets and it makes us dance to it.

This is rave, pure and free, gently remastered and extended for DJ use only.
