Razor sharp, clean, upbeat and dark are words that pop up in Mimi von Koerber's alias Tony Y Not biography. And they're perfect as well to describe Mimi's debut for LIVE AT ROBERT JOHNSON.

One could add hypnotic, robotic, cool or even cold here as well as these adjectives also work quite well to give you an idea of the three tracks starting with the title track »Your Exile In My Mind«, a very up to date take on the Euro-Disco sounds made popular by Giorgio Moroder at the end of the 70ties. Think of »I Feel Love« - albeit without Donna Summer's sultry vocals and you're close.

Mimi's next tune »The War Is Over But The Fight Goes On« enters even darker territories - which of course makes sense considering its name. This is music for our time, music which takes you to places you might not want to go in the first place but sometimes there is no other way to go. Imagine a barely lit dancefloor at 5am in the morning and being hit by the first few beats of this track and you'll quickly realize that all you can do is to go along with the music, dive deep into it, swallow it and embrace it - and keep fightin'!

To say we've come full circle with the last track »Full Circle« is not quite what it is. Mimi's production here is way more dreamy and slightly cosmic compared to the other tunes. This one leaves you with a lot more positive thoughts after a long and dark club night but still works mighty fine to forget all your troubles over its six minutes and twelve seconds - and y not?! You might feel safe by now but let's not forget: The fight goes on …

Budakid is back on Exploited with a charming 2-tracker that exudes confidence and style. In 'Milestones' - which is the title track, he catched up with the highly talented vocalist 'Bad Actor' whose voice mesmerizes and hijacks your attention. Channeling early ‘80s ‘new pop’ (Simple Minds and the like) in a modern way with its vocal stylings, signature glitching sounds, soaring synths and realistic rolling bass. A sequenced melody descends and ascends in perfect harmony with the indie-ish low end and with some stadium-sized leads coursing through the veins of this expansive-sounding production, it’s like stepping into a time machine.

Sinchi Collective member Hary Shanthi serves up his second release on the not for profit Sinchi label with remixes from MR TC and Tushen Raï.

Hary Shanthi is a deeply earnest sound designer and a lifelong student who experiments with technology and believes in the "Management of Varied Frequencies." With this new release, he serves up an ode to his Indian culture that provides a glimpse into "the non-dualistic nature" of Kashmir Shaivism, a philosophical system that emerged in India around the 12th Century.

The fantastic 'Urumi' is his reconstruction of his first encounter with a monistic Shaiva saint and the transcendental percussive journey that followed. It is a truly magical nine-minute trip that layers up broken beats and drawn-out synth leads into a hypnotic electronic landscape. Breakdowns come alive with exotic percussion and subtle acid sounds while the bold bass never lets up to make for what will be an indelible dance floor impact.

First to remix is Glasgow's MR TC, who heads up Phase Group Records and has released on Optimo Music, while playing cult favourites like Panorama Bar and Dekmantel Selectors. His melon-twisting version is loose and freaky with scattered hand drums and eerily atmospheric grooves designed to keep dancers in a state of trance.

Hard Fist co-founder Tushen Raï is a notorious collector who plays everything from Turkish psychedelics to Romanian cold wave and tribal techno. His cross-cultural sounds come to the fore on his Anti War Mix, which is chugging, psyched-out tribal disco for smoky backrooms that like to get weird. The Dub he offers up is a cavernous one with plenty of cosmic FX, twisted leads and crisp drum patterns.

This is a cultured package of deeply moving sounds from Sinchi, with all sales donated to the Sinchi Foundation that supports indigenous peoples worldwide.

Initially appearing on Rekids as a remixer in 2012, Berlin-based Oliver Dollar returns to Radio Slave’s imprint with the Spring-time funk of his ‘Strings for Life’ EP this April. 

The rich, stiring strings of the title track open ‘Strings for Life’ with real soul. TAU welcomes our Italian amico Aldebaran back for another adventure into another sonic dimension. Oozing retro future funk from every audi- tory pore, the Danza Proibita EP features five cuts from the prolific producer’s lab. Each track showcases Aldebaran’s ability to create emotive dance floor moments with panache.

Kicking off with ‘Fear’, featuring Laurent Wood, the EP gets straight to work with a jaunty rhythm and mesmerising groove. Just over two and a half minutes in, Laurent’s vocals add another level of musicality to this captivating track. The tension builds until we hit a brief breakdown, leading into more of that irresistible tech-funk.

This is followed by the title cut, ‘Danza Proibita’, a darkside cut with eerie atmospherics and layers of warped sound. Aldebaran keeps it simple, yet highly effective with repeated motifs and unfussy arrangement. The push and pull of tension keeps this one engaging until the very end.

‘Inferno’ is up next, with dense, rubbery kick drums propelling it forward. A hypnotic instrumental is unveiled with vintage sounds evoking a feel of Love Parade in the nineties. This cut is bound to lure you into its web and keep you locked in throughout.

The penultimate cut is ‘ICal’, a sombre, pared-down cut. This one feels cerebral, stimulating the mind to go on a journey inwards while the body dances freely without thought. One the dance floor this will whisk everyone away to a sanctuary within their own minds.

Lastly, Damon Jee steps up to remix ‘Fear’. A deeply funky hypnotic bassline percolates in the low end, while the beats pump and clap. Damon builds the track steadily, moving towards the introduction of Laurent’s vocals, which take on a sultry flavour. Groovy business for the late night funk brigade...

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new series at Innervisions called “Quantum Spits”.
House music has been around for decades, and throughout its evolution, it has spawned numerous sub-genres. “Quantum Spits” aims to explore and celebrate this diversity by dedicating each release to a particular aspect of this thing we call House. 
Our goal is to provide a platform for both established and up-and-coming producers to express their unique take on house music while also paying homage to the roots of the genre.

We are kicking off the series with Skatman, the Tunisian-born producer, DJ and label head. On „Rewarped“ he slams old school hip-hop samples into some raw and pumping house tracks, providing a fresh and up to date connection between these distinct musical eras to deliver six new cuts of raw concise electronic music. 

“Taking familiar elements and giving them a fresh twist,” says Skatman aka Aziz Haddad.

Ruben Karapetyan’s RKP continues a strong start to the year by welcoming Sistersweet to the label for her debut EP. Released via Balkan Connection, the track would set the course for a successful solo career, one where the Moscow resident would add Roger Martinez’s Higher States and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden to her discography, in turn earning praise from genre tastemakers Cid Inc, DJ Ruby, Emi Galvan and Ezequiel Arias, amongst others. Also highly regarded as a DJ, Sistersweet not only hosts her own weekly radioshow 'LUCH i SVETA' via Russia's popular Megapolisnight station, but is also well travelled, having performed from Ibiza to Sri Lanka to the far east. With 2024 being one of Sistersweet’s most creative and prolific years to date, the Russian artist now begins 2025 on a strong note, debuting on RKP with ‘Birchwood Road’, alongside remixes from Digital Mess and Paul Thomas. 

The release concludes with Paul Thomas making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Sister's Mantra’. With a career that spans the better part of two decades, British producer Paul Thomas has firmly etched his place in the history of progressive music. Early projects for SIZE Records and SPINNIN' made the London resident a top tier talent from the outset, who would go on to record projects for Armada, Black Hole, Perfecto and Vandit Records, amongst others. Continuing to evolve and perfect his craft, Paul would experience an evolution in sound across recent years, one that would find the UK artist focusing more on the deeper spectrums of progressive house, a sound which he has been showcasing via his UV imprint to great success. Continuing on this explorative path as 2025 begins to take shape, Paul adds RKP to his resume with a stunning rendition of ‘Sister’s Mantra’.
