Cristina Lazic returns to Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion for her three-track ‘Secrets’ EP, featuring Shar.  

Still young in her electronic music career, with influences dating back to her early years playing piano, DJ/producer,  composer and musician Cristina Lazic has steadily emerged onto the global landscape across the past five years.  Born in Italy and raised in London before returning to Milan, where she currently resides, her formative years have  helped with crafting her own shades of house music, with high-profile appearances from Hï in Ibiza through to Get  Lost in Miami and Exit Festival in Serbia. Releasing on both Crosstown Rebels and Rebellion, late February  welcomes an impressive return to the latter, bringing three fresh productions across her ‘Secrets’ EP. 

“As they say, ‘things always come in threes’, and I am excited to present you my third EP out on Rebellion.  Through this new release, I continue diving into topics that resonate with me. I believe I have developed a  ‘sound signature’ and use my productions to tell my story and voice my experiences.  

As usual with my music, each track has a meaning. ‘Secrets’, co-created with Shar, aims to raise some  curiosity in people’s minds, reminding them that life can be more interesting if some things remain untold -  especially in a world where people overshare on social media platforms. I was inspired to compose  ‘Welcome To The Circus’ after playing at Get Lost Miami last year: a visionary, crazy experience where  everyone is welcome - again, the text is co-written with Shar. And finally, ‘Wallball’ is inspired by sports  sessions I have recently attended. Out of all exercises, wallballs were the most difficult ones for me. I  wanted to flip a challenging task and turn it into a positive memory, this track - more minimal, groovy, a  club banger to have people dancing - now delivers uplifting vibes.” - Cristina Lazic. 

Opening via the hypnotic and winding sonics of title cut ‘Secrets’ featuring Shar, the three tracks across the  package balance light and dark moments for a rich and expansive offering. ‘Welcome To The Circus’, also  alongside Shar, fuses resonant vocals with evolving electronics and sweeping synth lines before the rolling and  refined ‘Wallball’ sees Lazic step out solo to shape up proceedings in emphatic fashion.

AGUACULTURA is the latest release from New York City DJ and Producer Matt FX after a whirlwind year which has seen him performing around the world in 25 cities across 14 countries in Asia and the Americas. This three-track EP is his debut on Mexico City’s Boyanza records and the first of many upcoming releases from his catalog.

The first track Atencion Nosotros features intricately woven hand percussion forming a unique shuffle and foundation for it’s bouncy, rubber band bassline and smooth, spectral synthwork. Written in Mexico City with DJ and vocalist JNGLEJ, the track features her vocals as a kind of call to action: attention everyone- for tonight, everything is different.

Track two, An Elephant in St. Tropez, features a low-slung and deconstructed tribal rhythm just begging for a packed and sweaty outdoor floor, with pan flutes and Matt’s signature synth work crescendo-ing to a bassline reveal befitting of the track’s namesake creature. Culminating with a massive and sleazy 303, the track is a cheeky ode to crowd control specialists like Julio Bashmore and Kyodai.

The EP finishes off with it’s namesake ‘Aguacultura’, a first for Matt as he explores a mostly drumless, borderline ambient synth composition. Produced on a bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo, Aguacultura takes us below the surface with a meditative, relaxed dive into friendly waters.

About Ricardo Baez:
Florence’s very own tastemaker Ricardo Baez has always been immersed in music. On one hand, he had his Italian father's extensive collection of old blues and jazz records. On the other hand, the 80’s pop cassettes his Venezuelan mother used as the soundtrack for her dance classes.

This melting pot gives Baez a different way to make his musical mark, as shown at his legendary party Tropical Animals in Florence, which has been running weekly since 2010. Tropical Animals has been cited as one of the most important drivers in the evolution of club culture in Italy, broadening people’s music tastes. Ricardo Baez’s trademark sets are unique- genre blurring, technically excellent and full of surprises. Ricardo Baez always leaves his audience wanting more.

And then there’s the sensational guests he books week in, week out. From Avalon Emerson to Marshall Jefferson, Vladimir Ivkovic to Jayda G (just to name a few). Ricardo Baez’s knowledge of electronic music is incredible.

It didn’t take long for his eclectic style and boundless enthusiasm to start turning heads internationally. Soon after hearing about Tropical Animals, the world wanted a piece of Ricardo Baez. Berlin came calling through Tresor, Watergate and Renate. Then Frankfurt’s Live at Robert Johnson, New York’s House of Yes and Le Bain, and London’s XOYO and Corsica Studios.

Ricardo Baez is also a well accomplished producer, taking all of his musical savoir faire and impeccable taste as a selector and making something new, that is instantly recognisable as his own. After releasing on some of the most prestigious labels in electronic music, he realised his music needed a place to call home. Since 2018, that home has been his own label, also called Tropical Animals. Other exotic creatures and musical chameleons that share his hot house include Whitesquare, The Cyclist, Robert Owens, Rebolledo, and the pioneer of Italian disco, Daniele Baldelli.  
Recently, he has appeared on compilations for Running Back, Correspondant, Polifonic, and Hotmix Records, as well as outstanding releases on Mule Musiq, Permanent Vacation, Bordello a Parigi and Correspondant.

Winter 2024 brings Ricardo Baez’s pièce de resistance: His stunning debut album, Tutto Passa, available on Live at Robert Johnson. Every track filled with meaning, an anthology of the most important moments in Baez’s life. Stay tuned - the lucky few who have heard it say this work of art is going to be yet another outstanding contribution to music. We’d expect no less.
