It was the bond of bold friendship that brought these guys together - and of course a shared history of sub-genre juxtaposition and meshing. Both grew up on Punk, Rap, and of course the early days of Techno. »Still There« is their first EP together and thus of course their first for Live At Robert Johnson. It's a venture into the euphoric, psychedelic power of early Trance and Breaks mixed with the attitude and energy of EBM and Electro.

Starting with the moody slow beats of the title tune »Still There«, Y2C takes you on a journey to a faraway chill-out room in some dark yet warm and cozy cellar. Or is this place to be found in synth heaven? It could well be if you listen to those dreamy melodies. Melodies as beguiling as the song of the Sirens that seduced good old Ulysses.

Y2C pick up on that dreamy vibe but throw in that slight and subtle Trance-factor, taking up speed with »Romantic Squat«, dragging you into their very own romantic squat.

Next up is »Love Your Enemy« - oh yes, shouldn't we all? Icy claps with lots of reverb and a bass line draw you onto the dry ice flooded alluminum floor and there's no way back - especially when that strange break with that crazy sound makes you stop for a second and think, why did I stop dancing? Get back on the floor y'all!

The last track »Mairei« is indeed some kind of a lollapalooza ride, a very special ride. And no, it does not lull you to sleep because the beat created by Y2C here is a demanding one, a special which gets you going all over its eight and a half minutes. It's sheer bliss, you gotta believe it. --- need to change this part!

This is not a one-off novelty EP, it's a kinetic collaboration. Y2C is a force of nature, a force of RAVE/WAVE energy, with many more to come, a force to reckon with.

As a first major statement since her 2018 debut album Hermetica, Perel, the newest addition to the Kompakt family, delivers her startling new single “Real”. Perel gets face to face with the world as it is now: “Has the world always been that gloomy?Or is it just a cataract? Maybe I’ll just wake up tomorrow from a deep sleep and then all of this isn’t real.". Tellingly, Perel deals with this the best way she knows how, essaying a lush, melancholy paean, wrenched from the soul, and lit up by her unabashed love of synth pop and electronic music.

Perel broke cover when she was signed up to James Murphy’s legendary DFA label, with whom she released a string of lovely singles and her debut album, Hermetica, a gorgeous, deeply dreamy collection of songs, some featuring her Nico-esque smoky singing voice. Balancing her singular productions with a career as an in-demand DJ, Perel’s come a long way from her early years, growing up in Saxony as a youth in love with the sounds of new wave and gothic pop.

Recent EPs “Karlsson” (Uncanny Valley, 2019) and “Star” (Running Back, 2021) consolidate an impression of an artist with a singular, unswayable vision. But “Real” is something else. There are hints here of Moroder-esque disco, in the pinprick arpeggio that percolates through the song, and of the Berlin School of electronic music, in the lush synths. You can still hear touches of post-punk and Neue Deutsche Welle, too, in “Real”’s moody countenance, and Perel’s vocals, but it’s all delivered with the knowing insouciance that’s fundamental to any great pop moment.

Riven with desire and despair, “Real” is a hymnal sigh for a world unmade. “I sometimes feel so disconnected from the world,” Perel sighs. “To me, it’s hard to ignore the problems of the world in order to experience any happiness or joy. It eats you from the inside.” But Perel fights on: “Despite, there’s so much to be grateful about.”

“Gusto” is a beautiful ode to Italodisco and Life. The lead melody & the pads take the audience on a happy journey. Cosmic!

We are realy honoured to have the only one Mufti to remix this one. The wellknown Mexican artist bring to the original a darker touch, but always considering the Italo way.

Finally, we welcome our lovely Marcus Christiansen! The Swedish artist, supported by artist as Funk D Void, gives to “Can’t Wait” a perfect mixing between Cosmic Italo and Dark Italo ! Her Majesty’s Ship celebrates release number 50 with a fantastic new EP from Mufti ft. Vongold that will be preceded by two singles - ‘Inverse’ on November 6th, then ‘Moonstruck’ on November 20th, before the full EP lands on November 27th with a superb music video to accompany ‘Silence’. Mufti is Bernardo Barrera, a multi instrumentalist producer from Guadalajara, Mexico. This project comes after being part of Los Fugazzi, and finds him focus more on rock variants and 80’s music. A mix of electronics with disco, electro, EBM and post punk define the sound. Vongold, meanwhile, is Nora Cam, a DJ and producer also from Guadalajara and influenced by genres such as disco, new wave and various girl bands. Her sounds seek to highlight the female voice, merging it with indie dance for an extra special edge. The idea behind this EP, which draws on the influence of bands like Depeche Mode, Lebanon Hanover and The Kvb, was to "convey how we are constantly feeling anxious and chased by our failures. And even if we need to scream, the pressure and idealisation of modern life immobilises us and shuts us up." Opening up the release is the superb ‘Silence’, a slow motion but high impact deep disco cut with a fat bassline and sensuous vocals. ‘Inverse’ is more punchy, with rugged bass and drums run through by withering sci-fi synths and deadpan vocals from Vongold. ‘Totem’ is an excellent fusion of dark wave styles and crashing hits, it’s a new form of electronic punk that draws you deep into its own unique sound world. Last of all is ‘Moonstruck’, a prowling late night groove filled with tension and menace. This is a fittingly standout 50th EP for a label that has very much carved out its own singular place in the electronic music world.

Some were straight and abhorrent whilst others were rugged and disorganised, cluttered like etched shapes upon a bumpy rock. These were the lines of his youth, each told a story of something from his past and if you followed it from end to end you might just weave far enough to find yourself back at the start. Out here in the middle of the rocky outback there were lines and stories to be found everywhere. You simply had to read between them all and follow suit. 

Sketchy Lines is a newly launched project based in Brussels, described as a multi gender project the imprint is focussed on graphic design, experimental music and collaboration. The first release comes from label founder Salah, an intriguing record which shows signs of promise for the future of the label.
