With a handful of own labels, as one half of Subwax Distribution and as an artist himself, Barcelona-based Baldo Gallego or short Baldo has been shaping and influencing as well as contributing and giving his all to the electronic music scene for more than a decade. Shortly Baldo released music on Gerd Janson’s label Running Back and on STEP Recordings, after a hiatus of more than year due to the pandemic. Now the passionate artist is back, refreshed and inspired to hit the scene with more music be it due the (at least partly) opened clubs or other circumstances like Baldo’s not so cheesy but sweet morning addictions. However, overtime working Baldo found the time to speak with Torture the Artist about his jobs, that do not feel like work, his artistically directions, his latest releases and where we can find him socializing secludedly from the clubs. Additionally, Baldo mixed and compiled the latest and last art:cast of a fulminant year including music freshly and soon to be released music.

The Chateau Chépère crew bring a diverse EP by ambient house maestro Rai Scott for their first instalment. Opening the EP is Logical Positivism, a deep, driving and cinematic nod to the forest dance floors of the late 90’s. On Track 4 Inspired, Rai brings the club in an introspective, melancholic mood with a slower, steady beat, rolling percussions while dreamy pads shroud the dancers. Picking up the pace is Open Your Eyes, a warm, bittersweet piece of house from from her own alter ego Serendipity. The club friendly 2021 rework shifts into an early morning vibe, while keeping it deep and moody. Closing out the EP is the title track Anahata Nada, a gorgeous, warm piece of ambient for the chill rooms.

Exclusive: Sasha Nevolin - Dukalis Is On Duty

OCV is the first collaborative EP from the two befriended labels OPIA Records and Club Vision. Each already having made an impact on the scene with few but well-curated releases the Londoners from OPIA and the Cuneo-based visionaries from Club Vision expand their musical liaison with their common label project OCV after already having had a cooperative event. The first EP, a five tracker from Sasha Nevolin, covers the artist’s creative output from the years 2019 to 2021. Fortunately is not only the name of the EP but also the fact that those tracks finally can see the light of day. Dukalis Is On Duty starts off the package - a track that has a sweet Acid-note, which is accompanied by melo-chords that remain in the background and seem to set a neat balance between a certain calmness and total dance floor madness. Latter is also supported by the track’s lush and driving bass line. There does not seem to be a better way to celebrate a kick-off of a label and common vision than with Sasha Nevolin’s Fortunately EP.

ALEXKID "Beat Odus"

Former Rhein-Main homie and Robert Johnson resident Robert Dietz finally has its debut release on Live At Robert Johnson at Catalogue No. 069, which (as you may know) is the local area code of both Frankfurt and Offenbach am Main—where the Robert Johnson Club still holds strong. Being a seasoned DJ and producer, Robert Dietz surely sets the controls to a four-track Vinyl, with pleasing electroid-technoid sonic textures and subtle Acid figures, throughout this EP.

With its playful and uplifting vibe, A1 Kirby might just be inspired by the Jump’n’Run character by the same name, who may be easily imagined along that happy Acid bassline bubbling amidst synth-pads and electroid beats. 
A2 Honey Stash relies on a 303-esque hook bolted on a solid four-to-the-floor Kick Drum, which soon evolves into an acid-trancey flair, thanks to some kind of mangled reverb introduced at the end of the first third. By adding a vocal sample and steady-handed work on the Filter section, this track provides extra energy for the next levels to come.
B1 Swallowing Tubes has that soft yet driving Electro aesthetic, pads, and Arpeggio, reminiscent of morning hours in decades’ past. 
B2 WAW completes this EP with a melancholic vibe on a straight beat, haunting vowel-pads, and lots of sonic space in-between its harmonic elements.

As the name states Live at Robert Johnson is the associated label of the respected venue in Offenbach and incorporates what the club stands for. The imprint has been establishing a solid ground for the new Frankfurt sound since 2009. Laid-back dance-floor awareness with a sense for particularity in sound is what might describe best most of the releases and artists.
