Based in the beautiful capital of Spain, "Rotten City Records" is run by Alvaro Cabana, one of city's finest djs and half of "Los Lopez" duo. After a first offering by "Nein" labelheads "Tronik Youth" backed with no less than "Red Axes" and "Richard Sen" remixes, second outing is another duo affair.  Canadian duo from Toronto "Jokers of The Scene" met Club Bizarre french lads during a recent european tour and this Ep is the result of two days recordings together. Nonetheless we will focus here on the dark synth-laden remix by mighty british producer "Timothy J. Fairplay", another LYO long time favorite ! 250 copies in stores at the end of the week so you won't die waiting for that one :)

He was a true creature of darkness, weighted down by mould, sludge, hatred and slime. Here come Greenslade, as he prepares for another evening of havoc, chaos and despair. MM Discos have been very busy since their formation in 2015 having released music from Marvin & Guy, Akirahawks and Enzino. Now they have announced the release of a forthcoming EP from Sankt Göran, which also features an exciting remix from Barcelona based JMII.

For its fourth release, Harry Agius aka Midland's Graded label has signed its first new act in the form of Montreal-based Solitary Dancer. With ‘Desire & Apathy’ being instantly familiar to anyone who heard Midland's Essential Mix earlier this year— in which it subsequently proved to be a much asked about inclusion— this eponymously titled release marks the debut of Solitary Dancer, as well as Agius' second time stepping into the role of label A&R following Hubie Davidson's appearance on Graded's ‘Regraded' sub-label last year.

From the opening moments of the EP's title track it is apparent why Aguis welcomed this release to the label, with 'Desire & Apathy' highlighting Solitary Dancer's similarly shared talent for elegant, richly-sculpted sound design and a knack for propulsive club rhythms that eschew rigid 4x4 drum patterns. 'Desire & Apathy' takes a classic electro beat and through the use of elegaic pad washes and swells of sinister bass notes morphs it into persistently engaging shapes. 

The B-side's 'Paradise Found' is a suspenseful coralling of intriguing sonic elements, with its fractured beats combined with a cinematic sense of drama and melancholy that's brought to the fore on the beatless 'Rapture Version' which brings Solitary Dancer's first release to an impressive close.

DC Promo Tracks #456: Black Spuma "Adamantine"

Joe Dickey, aka Body Copy, is a DJ/Producer who moved to Nashville in 2014 to continue his career as a touring and session bass player. A desire to find a creative outlet for exploring his love of music production and electronic dance music led Dickey to start the Body Copy project in 2017. He has since self-released a number of EPs, created his own label (Body Cuts), hosted several parties in Nashville, and performed internationally as a DJ. Body Cuts focuses on dynamic dance music that is rooted in the classic tradition of house and techno while remaining forward thinking and open to various styles of electronic dance music. ‘Spirit Dance’ sees Joe invite remixes from Yorkshire based producer and Phantasy, Hypercolour and Wolf Music artist James Welsh, in addition to Amsterdam’s Timothy Clerkin and Moscow’s Baltimore Chop.

‘Spirit Dance’ kicks things off with shooting acid stabs and muffled percussion floating around vocal samples from several old recordings of revival preachers before James Welsh continues with alleviating melodies, angelic pads harmonising with the inspiriting vocals throughout.

Timothy Clerkin’s remix of ‘Spirit Dance’ is a club-ready cut that lays focus on uplifting 303 synths spiralling with glistening leads and euphoric atmospheres before Baltimore Chop offers up an irresistible interpretation featuring reverberating bass grooves and laid-back rhythms in this nostalgic deep house track. ‘The Whys and Hows’ deliciously rounds off the EP with stabbing synths, infectious sweeps and rhythmic percussion keeping the energy flowing.

Body Copy ‘Spirit Dance’ drops on Body Cuts on 29th November 2019.

Earth Trax releases his debut album for Shall Not Fade with the breath-taking LP1.

LP1 takes influence from cold wave, applying gloomy chords onto House and Breakbeat, whilst including textures that might draw reference to early IDM. Earth Trax blends dreamy vocals, pads and melodies with striking rhythms, squawking synthesizers and strong bass lines throughout. The LP was recorded as an extension of some of the artists moodier singles on Shall Not Fade sister imprint, Lost Palms. It explores a more experimental approach towards House music, whilst drawing influence from some of his more downtempo style releases as Bartosz Kruczyński. 
LP1 features the stunning photography of Kasia Zacharko & graphic design of Kaja Kukuła.

As the name states Live at Robert Johnson is the associated label of the respected venue in Offenbach and incorporates what the club stands for. The imprint has been establishing a solid ground for the new Frankfurt sound since 2009. By featuring internationally acclaimed artists LARJ has been providing DJs and audiences with essential tunes in an extensive range of high-quality house music. Laid-back dance-floor awareness with a sense for particularity in sound is what might describe best most of the releases and artists.
