Tanto é assim que este Altercast começa com um verdadeiro feitiço do Gabão dos anos 80, N’Kene, de François N’Gwa. Passeando pelo roots-spiritual africano, zouk e disco workouts instrumentais, o mix é uma viagem por música sensível, feita para tocar e emocionar.

Belgrade born and based, Nevena started her career out of curiosity and interest in music. Open - mindedness is a trait she uses in every aspect of her life and implements it in music as well. 

From soul, boogie to disco and house and everything in between, she combines it into one whole depending on the ambient, atmosphere and people. The biggest influence on her are the artists who tend to experiment and who don’t settle for compromises. Music which has organic sound and which provokes different emotions and feelings is something that she explores continuously. 

Departing with the spellbinding gabonese 80's gem N'Kene, the mix traverses through spiritual-roots african music, reggae, instrumental disco workouts, and more, all with a delicate and emotive mood.

This mix was originally recorded for a friends podcast with a concept of 1 hour carte blanche deep dive into the crates transitioning into club for the remaining 30 min that I decided to use as a part of my creative process instead. There is some sampling in there from The Last Poets, Twin Cosmos, a track by falsetto master Philip Bailey from the soundtrack of The Clockers, Gil Scott Heron, Leslie Winer and a track by my buddy Chuwee.

Jordan’s schedule includes stops in New York, Tokyo, Ibiza and London, but his reputation has been built on almost two decades of relentless work closer to home. As resident and promoter at Belfast’s weekly party, The Night Institute, and before that as a curator of the city’s not-quite-legal,late-night parties, Jordan has played many roles within his local scene, alongside countless hours behind the decks. This has afforded him a legitimacy that is becoming a rarity in the electronic music community, placing him at odds with the common thirst for overnight success stories.

"I've crammed in some of the energy of my Summer into this hour. The first half is a slower tempo, inspired by my debut at Pikes and the early part of the night at our parties at The Hack Club in Belfast. The second half, I take things in a more energetic direction with highlights from my Fabric set earlier in July, as well as some previews of my forthcoming releases on Permanent Vacation and Polari."

Back in 1999, the forces behind Robert Johnson, both friends and aides alike, were driven by music and accoutered with a vision, to create a new expansive and collaborative understanding of club culture. To resiliently exist for such a long time, certainly wasn’t laid out in a cunning master plan.  Reeling through the years, we find ourselves in high spirits, regardless of these wicked times today, chuffed and thankful to all the fine people on both sides of the doors, wardrobe, bar, back office or DJ booth: Your love is a life saver.

Laid-back dance-floor awareness with a sense for particularity in sound is what might describe best most of the releases and artists.
