The Livewires' Christmas Wish

With this, the only single from upcoming EP "Just Clogged a Japanese Toilet," The Livewires attempt to fuse the electronic sounds of their worst critical failure, "Halfway to Blackout," with the guitar heroics of their most recent (and most critically lauded) album, "Hog: A New Musical Adventure."

When Dillon came home on leave, The Livewires (or The 'wires, as they're called here for the first time) knew it was time to get back in the studio. As they did at the end of 2022, they recorded three new releases(!) all at the same time. (Look forward to Livewires FM and another unnamed release, coming later in 2024!)

Here, Dillon takes the lead for the first time since "I Just Woke Up For A Sex" with amazing results—another stunning Livewires ode to everyone's favorite carnal pastime! Prepare to see SEX⁹⁹ climbing the dance charts in the coming weeks.

Come May, it'll have been a year since "Halfway to Blackout" came out. I think "Blackout" is a GREAT ALBUM that has been UNFAIRLY MALIGNED by limp-dick, tight-assed critics. To defend this future cult classic and further cement its status as such, I went into the Livewires vault tonight, torch in hand, and blew the dust of the master tape for "Body Starts to Move (Next Thing You Know, I'm Out On The Danceflo')."

In one night of frantic sequencer programming, tape splicing, and keyboard playing, I uncovered the ACCESSIBLE POP REMIX of the tune. (Unfortunately, modern music critics can't appreciate music unless it's so obvious it HITS THEM IN THE FACE!) The Livewires faithful knows how great an album "Halfway to Blackout" is. I hope that this remix begins to show that to the rest of the world.

The art is something I made from a wonderful picture Nathan took as prospective cover art for an electronic album before "Halfway to Blackout" was even conceptualized. I'm glad it finally found a home. -Ben

Fireflies (Intro)

The Livewires celebrate Record Store Day with their limited release "Music." This album sees the band expanding to 6 members and going even further out than they ever have before. This release is akin to another Rectal Exam Records release, "The Koala Bears Go To Far" from 2017 in its sheer experimental nature. The label has never put out anything so musically groundbreaking--until now. Twenty-three minutes of unadulterated musical experimentation, and every minute is for you. It took a few albums, but The Livewires have figured out how to use the studio to its fullest potential.

All my life I have been walking through an enchanted forest with wonderment in my heart.

The Livewires have begun to get their rock 'n' roll train back on the track. With "Slimeball," they reconcile the two sides of themselves: structured catchiness (as heard on "You Know My Name!" and "Dead Or Alive") and experimental oddness (as heard on "MMXIX" and "Music").

The album was recorded over a day, with various members showing up throughout the sessions, and Nathan phoning in a performance at the last minute.

On this EP (designed as a follow up to 2019's seminal "Slimeball"), The Livewires make it a point to be up front, open, personal and accessible. After creating what critics and fans widely consider their greatest album yet, The Livewires entered the studio and came out with a succinct, compelling statement about who they are as a band. 

This fifteen minute EP, recorded at Nathan's birthday party, compiles four covers and one original song, all including studio chatter to make as personal of an experience as possible.
