Today we introduce you to the Electro producer and live act OBZERV, based in the U.K. His music inspired by concepts from the realms of science fiction and through his subtle observation of life.

1. Which artists has influenced you the most?

- There is not one artist that has inspired me the most, different artists are constantly inspiring me in different ways. Two artists that come to mind straight away are Animistic Beliefs and The Outsert. These two artist have been inspiring me recently to create music that doesn’t specifically confine to any genre and takes inspiration from different genres and cultures to create something that is different.

2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- I have not been working very much on releasing music at the moment but you can expect to see some of my electro work on Cultivated Electronics and GunFinger Food in the coming year.

3. Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- I really have no idea. I want to release some of my new music eventually but I am always asking myself which labels would be good for me to release on. For listening pleasure I have been listening to mostly friends music recently, labels such as Patchbay Records, Gunfinger Food feel relevant to me at the moment because I personally feel involved in their journey.

4. What inspires you now to create music?

- I mostly inspired by my friends to create music. I am constantly working with friends and in the midst of collaboration I feel that my most creative side comes out. I feel a lot more inspired when working with someone than when I am alone, I think this is because you have someone to bounce ideas back and fourth with and I feel a lot less judgmental about my work.

5. What set-up do you use when creating music?

- I have been gigging a bit recently so have been using my hardware to write music for my live sets. I am using a Digitakt, Digitone, SH01A, Micromonsta, a rat distortion pedal and a strymon deco tape saturation pedal. I will create ideas with this set up and try to make them into full tracks later on using ableton to record the sounds.

HOTCAST#19 with «DJ ODD»

Iako je relativno svježe ime na sceni, Koraka sve češće imamo prilike čuti u klubovima diljem Hrvatske. 

Iza ovog imena krije se David Vujnović, mladi Požežanin koji je svoje utočište prije nekoliko godina pronašao u Rijeci. Član je kolektiva Torque uz Bašeka i Kim Ono, a osim što je zaplivao DJ vodama, okušao se i u produkciji. 

Korak je isprva bio okorjeli househead, no njegovi interesi s vremenom su se proširivali i mijenjali. Usprkos tome što je sada fokusiran na nešto brži i prljaviji zvuk, rado ističe kako će uvijek voljeti proper house.

"Taj topli driving groove naveo me da zavolim elektroniku. Volim doslovno sve žanrove, ali smatram da svaki od njih ima svoje mjesto i vrijeme. Ako me uhvatiš kako vrtim na nekoj plaži, definitivno ćeš čuti malo housea i deepare. S druge, strane, u nekom podrumu u pet ujutro očekuj 135+ BPM-a", kaže.

Za DJ pult prvi je put stao 2019. godine, ali nije trebalo dugo da se za njega pročuje i izvan Rijeke.

Dosad je svirao u brojnim hrvatskim klubovima, poput Portuna, SoundFactoryja, Surogata, Pogona Kulture i šibenskog Oksida, a ove godine pridružio se i glazbenoj postavi Sea Star Festivala.

Kako bi te pobliže upoznao sa svojim likom i djelom, Korak u ovih 70 minuta donosi vlastito viđenje sinteze electra, breakbeata, ghettotecha i techna.

"Okorijeli househead vrti sve osim houesa… :D Vjerujem da se čuje nekoliko greškica u setu. Nemam setup doma, a ne volim satima tlačiti frendove da bih snimio set. Sve je snimljeno iz prvog pokušaja, bez pripreme - kao što biste me čuli i vani", poručuje član kolektiva Torque.

The Deserter

Throughout the years, producer and DJ The Deserter has developed a profound fascination for underground movements and musical counterculture. It was this exact captivation, and the influence of 90s rave pioneers, classic Detroit techno, and emerging talent; that formed his craft into a dynamic and versatile style, characterized by seamless transitions between genres and relentless precision. 

In terms of his productions, he has contributed to acclaimed labels and compilations such as Appointee Rec, Bat Soup Crew, Bogoture Records, Bestiario Collective, Your Character, Ovelha Trax, Perlas Label, WC Fast Music Delivery, FU.ME.REC, Furatena and Sufrimiento Records.

In September of this year, the release of his first EP for Perlas Label titled 'The Mass Looting' is scheduled, accompanied by a release party. Additionally, there are also pending remixes and participation in compilations for this year which you should definitely keep an eye on.

This mix mostly features music from his colleagues, friends, and labels from Argentina and South America. It reflects the frenetic Buenos Aires underground scene and its burgeoning talent, the product of a deep economic crisis that pushes the limits of working-class creativity.

Having a background in instrumental music as well as some rap, he transitioned to DJing in 2019 which also marked the birth of his label. He's been a prominent figure in the underground scene of his hometown before ultimately moving to Tbilisi in 2022.
