Lizdas Waves

New season – new winds. Waves, to be precise. With our new WAVES mix series, we've set out to present the waves that want to take the storm by storm. 

The first name is Simonas Činga a.k.a. Cport Cistema, who has been heard and seen many times by more attentive listeners. He is a producer and DJ who has been working in the shadows for years, keeping a low profile, but has finally started to attract more and more attention over the last year.

This year seems to have been a productive one for Simonas, with a number of successful independent releases and even a cassette released on the iconic Los Angeles label 100% Silk. We are delighted to have taken the artist's spare hour to record a great set. Tune in – we're sure you'll enjoy it too.

Lizdas Waves #1: Cport Cistema

Some things are blessed and remain unchanged, while others take time and the patience of the authors to truly understand their meaning and beauty. For the same reasons, we have long watched the duo @PeanutsonKeto , known in our craft circles simply as Edvinas and Gytis, the curators of Sodo Reikalai night. 

After the slow wave of electronica that happened back in the middle of the last decade, the sound has remained relevant and confirmed that it was not some kind of herd yum or temporary fad. A very similar sound was shaped by the aforementioned Peanuts on Keto – everything came together in the second #WAVES. We’re glad that the gates of that secret garden sometimes open in Lizdas, and this time also in the mix. Let's wander.

Lizdas Waves #2: Peanuts on Keto

The first thing you will hear is the voice emerging from nothingness "So Good, So Good...". Is it a subtle spoiler for us what to expect in the next hour? We could hardly disagree.
The third instalment of our WAVES series is carved by our very welcome guests from Scotland - @DixonAvenueBasementJams . As you would expect, the mix is full of intrigue and leads the listener through the kingdom's bumpy musical landscape. And there's everything from acid splashes, classic House vocal adaptations to the gloomy dark alleys where Bass music culture was once born. But fear not - throughout the musical journey, listeners will be under the watchful eye of the legendary UK label's cerberus.

Martynas G is a wonder boy from Kaunas, who has been seen many times behind the bar here, in Lizdas. Obviously, the time spent every weekend listening to a different sound of the guests from all around the world trained his ear and a brains to pick out true gold from the dirt. This week's musical episode of WAVES is presented by a graduate of the Lizdas Academy who co-founded „Kultas series“ with his colleagues. Domeika once mentioned that his curiosity to try out the decks came after a visit to our club, so this mix from now an active participant in the scene is a real pat on the back for us.

Après des concerts à la Gaité Lyrique, au Lieu Unique (Nantes), la Fondation Beyeler (Basel) ou la SAT de Montréal, Les Yeux Fermés investissent les ondes de Rinse France pour une émission mensuelle de deux heures au cours de laquelle un(e) invité(e) aura carte blanche pour sélectionner une heure de musique à écouter dans l’obscurité, la première heure étant sélectionnée par Guillaume Sorge, le directeur artistique du projet.

Cette émission sans parole vous proposera une géographie sonore de l’intime, sélectionnée par des artistes issu(e)s d’horizons divers - pas forcément des musiciens - ayant en commun un rapport très particulier à la musique.


Fantastic Twins, the ongoing project of Julienne Dessagne, is a sonic exploration of dual characters born from one distinct perspective. A producer, songwriter and acclaimed live performer, Dessagne has spent the last decade sculpting a unique world, releasing on influential labels such as Optimo Music, supporting Bicep on tour and earning the stewardship of electronic music icons including the late, great Andrew Weatherall.

While 2023 sees the release of Fantastic Twins long-anticipated album,‘Two Is Not a Number’, Dessagne’s cultish reputation as a live act precedes itself. Prioritising a natural predisposition to experimentation alongside decades spent on the most open-minded dancefloors, Fantastic Twins’ focus on a hybrid approach, featuring synthesizers, samplers, sequencers and modular effects has enraptured audiences at some of the world’s finest nightclubs, including fabric and Robert Johnson, as well as festivals such as Houghton, Convenanza, 4GB and Mira.

Building a sonic narrative on the fringes of techno, driven by a sense of mystery and character that remains entirely her own, Fantastic Twins live performances launch minds and bodies into space with a story that evolves in each setting, waves of rave tension breaking with blissful release. Here, Dessagne’s own vocals act as an organic anchor amid a truly live set that acts as a continuation of the cultures of Kosmische, pure techno and contemporary psychedelia.

With a background in performance since a young age, Dessagne is also known for her scores for contemporary dance. Her first album, ‘Obakodomo’, was the soundtrack for a contemporary dance piece for children, a playful metaphor for how to learn to live together and share resources, composed as a subtle riposte to the notion that children’s music has to be “childish”. Dessagne is currently working on another composition for performance to be released later in 2023, furthering a back catalogue that has spanned scores for fashion shows, film and documentary features.

Following a decade of releases on labels such as Optimo Music, Hippie Dance and Kompakt, 2023 also saw the launch of House of Slessor, an imprint and label founded by Dessagne with the specific intent of releasing her own material. The label is the home of ‘Two Is Not A Number’, Dessagne’s album exploring the entwined lives and fates of Fantastic Twins, a metaphor for our own psyche, our inner conflicts, and our relationship to others and otherness.

Unreleased music themes by composer Kornelije Kovac for XIV Winter Olympic Games Sarajevo 1984 will be released in September for Fox & His Friends Records, joining the anniversary celebrations of one of the most remembered sports games in its history. Originally made for commissioned documentary advertising short Report from Sarajevo, directed by Miodrag Zdravkovic in 1982, these music themes are Kornelije Kovac’s first sessions that precede the official songs, idents and audio logos he composed for the XIV Winter Olympic Games opening ceremony. 
Sessions started in 1982 and lasted till 1984 when Kornelije Kovac in his Belgrade based studio created songs that firstly followed Sarajevo’s preparation for the games, transforming the town into international meeting place, right up to the end of the games with closing hit song “It was nice in Sarajevo, see you in Calgary”.   
XIV Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo 1984 had immeasurable status in the history of Yugoslavia and is widely recognized by organizing committee to be the best in recent history of the Games. However, they were also the pop-culture melting pot of the times, with posters by Andy Warhol and famed local designers and the music by Kornelije Kovac, leading the selected best-of-the-best composers of the times. Zoran Hristic, Nikica Kalogjera, Frano Parac and Slobodan A. Kovacevic were also among the engaged authors.  
The recordings on the release Report from Sarajevo (XIV Winter Olympic Games 1984) share the same musical approach to melody and structure Kornelije Kovac (1942 - 2022) was using at the beginning and the mid of 1980s: while exploring the possibilities of synthesizer, fresh from his collaborations in London with famed composer Hans Zimmer, and almost a decade since he shared Eurovision Song Contest stage with ABBA in Brighton with his Korni grupa. He also collaborated with Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Paul Jones (Manfred Mann) and Andy Pask (Landscape) among others. Kornelije Kovac always insisted on the freshness of the harmony layers combined with club friendly rhythm track. 
With the warm analogue feel that resonates in today's digital world this was chosen for a purpose to be an old-school 12'' maxi-single, as it was intended to be, cut deeply for the sakes of all lost and existing discotheques in Sarajevo and all over the world. Sourced from the original master tapes with full color artwork by Eric Adrian Lee, Report from Sarajevo includes special insert with photographs from Kornelije Kovac’s private collection and liner notes by Zeljko Luketic. Distributed by Clone NL, Light In The Attic USA and Believe SAS.

Belukha — the sacred peak of Altai, shining above the clouds. They call it the Heart of Siberia, the Axis of the World, the place where Earth and Sky meet. At an altitude of 4509 meters, breath turns into prayer, and every step feels like a touch of eternity. Belukha reflects the sun like a mirror of time: morning light in its snow sounds like music, and evening shadow — like silence. For centuries, pilgrims have come here seeking answers, artists — inspiration, and shamans — signs from the spirits of the mountains. This peak cannot be conquered — it can only accept.

Vol. 12 Mountain Altai VA concludes the Dub Techno Star Collection — the final ascent, where sound reaches its highest point. Nine tracks unfold like steps toward light, purification, and transcendence.

Belukha Mountain is music born from silence — and silence resonating through sound. Twelve volumes, twelve sacred places, twelve sonic legends — one journey through the spiritual geography of Altai. This is the end of the path. And at the same time — its beginning.
