I’m an oceanside dweller in the Bay Area, but I’ve also had various family members who had their own special relationships with the ocean – my grandma Meche who would swim out to the anchored boats in Chimbote; my uncle Claus who obsessively surfed at Lima’s beaches; and my dad who loved the beach and toted our family of 5 to beaches along California and Baja.
