MC031 - NICOLA CRUZ - VISIONES

A remix pack is nothing more than the universe experiencing its own dance music subjectively. With this in mind, we took Ecuadorian sound-seer Nicola Cruz’s latest audiovisions and refracted them through the minds of some of the world’s hottest young cultural interpreters. To provide you with the best possible approximation of what the results feel like, we then sent an intern to loiter outside a local Heart-Opening Ceremony to get people’s unfiltered reactions just moments after they awakened to their new place in the universal order. 

TZANTZA (SIMPLE SYMMETRY REMIX):

I am a being composed of divine light and the kind of pure exhilaration embodied by percussive workouts forged by artists hot off releases with Disco Halal. I made this track approx 2009. The bassline is a Roland ProMars, sequenced by the Sequentix P3 sequencer - lots of edits made here, especially the 2nd half where I put the sequence into random mode. Drums are TR-808, CR-78, and some white noise percussion from the Korg MS-20, also being sequenced by the P3. The pads are Jupiter-4, and are directly and intentionally referencing Polygon Window. I used to play this one live sometimes, but it always tripped up people who were trying to dance, so I think this one is better suited to the braindance-floor.

Light and Lens

A Cwejman RG-6 triggers two FSH-1's and a CTG-VC.

Two layers, recorded in ProTools via a RND 5059 and Prism AD. Then cut up to make it slightly less boring. Bit of reverb and limiting added on the master fader.
