woops! just realized I never commented on this. But had meant to say it didn't slip my attention that yer style of playing really works with the (possibly?) ethereal nature of the lyrics' topic. I still feel like my clavinet part isn't doing much, but you did a fine job teasing out the individual instruments & parts on this one.

This is an old song that was orginally called 'Flowers in Your Head'  begun in the late 70s by my dad and his friend. He completed it in the 90s and recorded it with a local band (we can't fully remember it). Having not come up with much myself lately,  I was inspired again when remembering how much I liked this, so I re-wrote it again with some different words,  and probably ruined it. 
Melody by Rob Benson (Verse, Chorus) and The Cobbled Moth (Middle 8, or whatever its called). Lyrics by The Cobbled Moth, and Hoppo (who wrote the first verse and part of second).

Cooler is slang for jail. The Song of Songs is worth a study. Beno of LCR FM is in there and the Azerbaijan link.

Ever since I (mistermark https://on.soundcloud.com/84DGvXVshEcBakD17 )saw an incredible Canadian band (Recipe From a Small Planet) do a live Reggae jam and seamlessly slide into a cover of 'Watching The Detectives', I wanted to try something similar. In this case, I did the opposite, starting with the cover, and adding a reggae/dub section at the end, which starts at 3:15.

For the dub portion, I enlisted the help of one of the best talents I know - @Llanpsych (Tez) - to add his magic and 'dubbify' the whole instrumental section at the end. I'm singing and playing all the instruments here using my keyboard, and some echo effects, and Tez did the rest to produce that authentic dub atmosphere into the mix. I recommend listening with headphones, and hope you enjoy the result!

Sharp ears may notice the following 2 details:

- In the last few seconds, I threw in the theme from 'The Godfather', played on melodica (see credit below).

- at 0:39, you can faintly hear my dog barking in the background. I decided to keep it in, since she barked at the line, "red dogs under illegal legs", which I thought was funny timing! :)

This song started its life as one of a batch of bass lines Josh came up with around the New Year holiday. He recorded it to a rudimentary drum loop, which Ken replaced perfectly with his own beat. Stephen was up after Ken, adding his tasteful, foundational guitar you hear underlying the entire song. Not to miss out on the guitaring, Tez came up with the ethereal guitar fills that float around in there. Mark came after Tez with his textural wah clavinet, also adding the wonderful sax solo you hear in the middle. After it was done musically, Josh went back and wrote some lyrics and sang them, too.
  Once it was in the can, we asked Tez to do the honors of mixing it for us, which he did in his always expert fashion. 
  This is a fine example of the Eclectic Collective coming together to create a heartfelt song, based on a bass line seed.  We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

This song began in Artur's jam room at his house, where he creates all of his amazing music on his Fender Jaguar, which is perfect for the surf sound, at which he's a master. He shared it with Josh, who shared it with the group.
  Before Josh could lay down a bass part to it, though, JJ came up with his elegantly moody synth and laid it down. The rhythm section, Josh and Ken, then did their usual dance, dialing it in with some back and forth. Stephen was next in line, adding a subtle duet with Artur's chords. Tez then played the ethereal lead throughout most of it. Stephen, after it was pretty much laid down, came through with the ripping wah solo towards the end.
  Once the music was all taken care of, Carl came up with some great lyrics for it, and sang them, as the newest member of the group. He also laid down an accompanying acoustic rhythm guitar part, too. After Carl did his thing, we turned it over to Stephen for a mix, which he did with his professional skill set.
  This is the latest in a long line of surf rock tunes Artur has shared with Eclectic Collective. If you dig the sound, he has plenty more great ones on his page, which are worth checking out, too. We tried to do this with a little nod to The Police, the band, not the profession. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it. Thanks for listening.
