I wanted to create something with an audience of one. The little crowd of me. To subvert that pattern I often fall into of externally-minded production, and make something that had no other audience in mind ... and therefore making something that felt like a very special gift to my spirit. 

Much like Lost Tapes, it feels like an ecosystem and soundscape to inhabit for the future, one where I felt beautifully held. Each of these songs feel like they hold my spirit in such an incredible and life-affirming way, and when meshed together they create a sonic landscape that I can go exploring in time and time again. Each exploration and each listen I think something new. I am so grateful to each of the artists for making such explorations, and therefore giving me the chance to weave something with them. 

It feels like an important difference to mark that now I have created this with my own universe of solitude in mind, I feel ready to invite others into the landscape. I've walked around it a lot, sat on all the different chairs, and rolled down lots of different hills. I wonder what it makes you feel, and if we will feel similar things and maybe even think similar things. I wonder if we will end up in the same sonic landscape, or if we will create our own worlds entirely.

I first met Pjenne in the Bookar Crater at the inaugural Inner Varnika festival in 2017. Only moments after our introduction we were hugging and swaying together, to an unforgettable set by my brother Ben. Little did I know she had already played at the festival before I’de arrived and would soon become one of my favourite disk jockeys. 

Pjenne’s sets all manage to have a unique and alluring atmosphere, a vibe that permeates itself no matter the style or genre she’s exploring. Each set brings a sonic embrace, a warmth similar to that which I felt when we first met. 

This mix is no different, a certified classic of dubbed jams mined from the depths of ’89 to ’03. Please Enjoy!
