Quickie from us: "HOLY SHIT, FINALLY THIS FUCKING SONG IS OUT... This song was meant to be an Edit to promote a show we had at LIV in december. Initially we had Disclosure's 'Fire Starts to Burn' over the track and thought the drop was way to hot to use someone else's vocal. So we had this ridiculous idea to create a song around the concept of the #SELFIE. We really weren't sure if this was the most brilliant idea, or worst idea we ever had... So we had our home girl Alexis come over and within an hour we had 2 verses and the song done. At that point in time we thought it was hilarious but we were quite sure how it would be received, but seeing as we aren't pussbags and music is about experimenting and having fun, we put it out. 2 days later the song had 200k plays and about 1% negative feedback. So we went to Dim Mak who we always loved as a label and asked them if they were interested in it, if we went back in added a new verse and changed the drops. 6 Weeks later here we are, with an amazing Music Video compiled with all this great submitted #Selfies from Fans, Friends, DJS and Celebs. So we hope you all enjoy the tune as much as we did putting this whole project together. This is our first EVER Original release and it would mean the world to us if you all bought the song, shared the video and took #SELFIE video... ”

1) Every time we asked someone special for a #SELFIE they said yes, but then said they would send us one later like it was some chore, when all they had to do was turn their phone around on the device they were texting us from....
2) About 15% of the submissions we got from ppl involved Nudity

4) #Selfie was named word of the year in the USA and The Netherlands...

Number 9 in our Brazil 45’s series.

Famous 'Sambista' and actress Doris Monteiro born in Rio in 1934 and had a career spanning over 60 years. This Samba Rock classic was penned by Jorge Ben Jr. Another find at the legendary Tony's Hits in Sao Paulo, one of Mr Bongo's all time favourite digging spots. Taken from her self-titled 1970 LP on Odeon Brazil. Previosuly unreleased on 7".

'Quarteto Em Cy', were a prolific and very popular Samba/MPB group comprising four sisters hailing from Ibirataia in Bahia. 'Tudo Que Voce Podia Ser' is one of our all time favourite Brazilian songs, originally written by Milton Nascimento & Lo Borges that appears on their seminal Clube da Esquina LP. 

This version is taken from Quarteto's 1972 LP on Odeon. It was also released on a 7" in 1972, in a unique Brazilian style 4-track EP, cut at 33rpm. A lovely idea but not so good for sound quality!

Fittingly, these sounds come straight from label founder and forward-thinking steward of modern New Age music, Matthewdavid. He is your pilot for the duration of his Ashram, transporting you from one serene scene to the next on his Mindflight Express. In this collection of three long-form compositions, heavy water sounds and flute mix with field recordings from Bali, sweeping synthesizers, and the angelic vocals of Nora Keyes (“Dancing Ganesh”). Though Ashram documents a special time and place in the producer's life, it may only whet listeners' appetites for its double-LP followup, the contemporary New Age masterwork Trust the Guide and Glide.

Earlier this month Elyte and Cnyce’s interstellar Soul Clap ship descended on Jæger with the full force of Sun Ra’s most cosmic determination. Holled up in our basement the entire night, they brought the might of a Bootsy Collins platform down on Oslo, with their Funk-determined vision of an electronic future narrated by Mad Max.
Captivating and energetic, their set skated through dance music from the 70’s to the present on a celestial trajectory where no man has ventured before, their destination set to mark the release of their latest- and second album, “Soul Clap”. Like “EFUNK” before it this latest album is a highly intoxicating punchbowl of musical influences concocted from the group’s most primal experiences on the dance floor, distilled for your most hedonistic listening pleasures.
Tracing a line from their Funk roots, with syncopated, bouncing live drums, oozing cool bass-lines, and vocals that call out at you from some foggy hazy corned of a dance floor like a siren song, Soul Clap is undeniably a soul Clap album from cover to cover, while at the same time plotting perhaps a new orbit for the Soul Clap ship.
