Pre-empting the Break-Beat/Trance Movement as early as 2014 with first releases on the infamous BFDM imprint, the tastemakers from Lyon have no difficulties navigating both prime-time sets at Dekmantel and making one of the best Test-Pressing mixes to date (though rumor has it Virgil Abloh made one recently) (just a minor tease, much love guys).

For 5918 mins. Guillaume decided to go on his own and deliver an incredibly skillfully executed 1-hour deconstruction of an up-to-date club-set. Abstract, fucked-up and emotional. Dive in!

There's no question in the remarkable quality of the musical outputs that Melbourne has to offer. Every now and then however, something truly special comes across your musical desk. For me, one of the most exciting projects to come of 2020 is Acopia.

Acopia brings together three local Melbourne musicians @purient, @liluzu and @morganwright, commendable all in their individual endeavours, but together converge to showcase a contemporary incarnation of stripped back, emotional synth pop reminiscent of the 80s. Their debut EP 'For You I Try' is everything I love packaged in two neat little arrangements, warm yet melancholy and worthy of a tear or two. Acopia's less is more approach to music will no doubt see them flourish into their bright future. I'm counting down the days until we can see Acopia take the stage live, but for now Lachie, Kate, and Morgan joined me for a chat and one hour guest mix, broadcast live on PBS Melbourne for Passing Notes episode 81.

Two years after their first record came out, the Abstrack Records crew operating legendary dance nights in Nantes are back on top of the new release pile. Two original tracks by @kanotmusic and two remixes. Overall, their stylistic balance signature is maintained, although the gravity center is a bit more leftfield and poetic, a bit less dance-obvious. But that's only in comparison to other material : any of the four pieces here can take a dance floor apart, played at the right time.
