Algarrobo Sessions #2 Skymap

Sometimes, you know everything will be fine, regardless of outside odds 🌌. I spent after travelling from Bucharest 🇷🇴 via Istanbul 🌉 to Zurich 🇨🇭. Two Ecstatic Gigs in a week 🎶. Quite intense and lovely ❤️. Friends are hosting me at each spot – the caressing feeling of being held and carried 🤗. Both cities were so beautiful 🌆, dipped in late summer light ☀️, and the cold fingers of autumn were tickling us 🍂.

I had probably one last dip in a European body of outside water this year 🏊‍♂️ (ok, we never know 🤷‍♂️) and enjoyed a day circling on a city scooter 🛴 with my back and the controller attached to me, and I crashed 🤕, aligned the crown 👑, and continued. That's what I learned from Aikido: you fall, you get up, you lose, you get up 💪. There is some dust 🌪️, no significant scratches, and my gear is fine 🎧. I was dreaming 💤 and henceforth dreaming I could pass a kerbstone 🌙.

The soundcheck came with some challenges, but I engaged in trust 🙏. Everything will be fine. And even at the last minute, everything worked out 🎚️. The fellow dancers arrived at the church ⛪, where I prepared my sonic sermon 🎤, and creatively, technically and spiritually, it became one of my finer rides 🌊.

It's all about the journey 🚀. Enjoy 🎉.

As 2020 comes to close we are taking stock of life as it compares to a year ago. Nothing was as it seemed then, and likely nothing is now either. We are all deep inside a massive collective psychedelic journey. Good trip bad trip, all our paths overlap. 

On our new album, out now, we explore the idea that we are at the crux of a significant leg of this journey.  Like that moment in most every trip when you are faced with a fear or anxiety and must make a decision on how to proceed, the crux presents both crisis and opportunity.

The featured track here, "Common Ground” is about finding a place for us all to meet in these divisive times in hopes that we can unify and find a path forward.

Cooperation, communication and dialogue are key to unity and resilience.

On the Crux album we are taking musical chances. Some of the most personal songs we’ve written mixed with raw sketched out ideas, to full blown improvised compositions. This is our way of processing the radical changes that have become routine for all of us. This album represents our subconscious hopes and fears for the time ahead. Born in the unseeded Coast Salish territory called East Vancouver (by the colonizers), BC, Canada, Michael Mars Riel is Plains Cree and French on his Father Arthur’s side and Irish and Scottish on his Mother Susan’s side. Michael is a descendant of the leader of the Red River Resistance Louis Riel(look him up), who is a vital part of Canadian History. 

Michael or sometimes just Mars aka. Infinity Frequency has found joy in playing with sound since he was five, when his mother bought him his first ghetto blaster with a three band equalizer and a little casio synthesizer. Since then his curiosity regarding technology and sound has taken him on a journey through diverse investigations into various flavors of sounds and in their creation.

Michael has special place in his heart for creating an atmosphere of exploration; nurturing movement within space in the present moment, through the auditory experience. 

With great honor and appreciation for creators and listeners everywhere Mars shares his humble creations with gratitude.
