Dj Le Roi has been a favourite and on instant replay at the Noir Music offices for quite some time, so when he sent us this 2 tracker we fell in love right away and even better..... the tracks grew, grew and grew on us.
“I Loved You First” is a solid house groover with inspiration from the good old garage days in the 90s.
Chords and vocals that sounds so good you can almost smell the vinyl release.
“Heartbreaker” is a deeper, spoken word journey with soothing melodies and a more current deephouse sound. Perfect for those warm-up hours or poolside parties.

Nikola Gala delivers a stripped down to “no bull-shit” techy remix of “I Loved You First”.
Nikola has had great success with Rekids, Ibadan and Brise lately with his in your face tech-sound.
Simplicity and a hypnotic groove is usually the best weapon and this remix is a perfect prove.

Kevin Over is another producer we have fallen in love with. His productions are always very special and very well done. On remix duites for “I Loved You First”, Kevin has taken the oldschool house/techno route and made the track work for the late night sessions. Another pearl from Mr. Over indeed.

Clio delivers the only remix of “Hearbreaker” and his sub-heavy sound suits the spoken word perfectly.
The track is now ready for peak-hour and late night sets. Another quality-slap of tech house stompin' extremely well executed by Clio.

Futuristic-funk starchild, Jimmy Edgar, returns with the third single to be taken from his recent album, Majenta, out earlier this year on Hotflush. This time Edgar shoves his free-spirited sexual appetite in your face, with a slice of stripped-down, upfront electro-funk complete with J.G. Ballard-inspired lyrics of car-crash sexual fetishism. 

Alongside the original album cut, two alternate takes are reworked by a pair of producers at the very top of their game: Jon Convex and John Talabot. Whilst Talabot creates an eerie and downright epic re-imagining through his combination of Amazonian electronics and volume manipulation, the Convex cut enhances the dance floor potential of the original with bubbling, arpeggiated 303 bass.

Brazilian duo Digitaria get set to ‘Shine’ even brighter with a highly anticipated second EP for the one and only Hot Creations. A potent mix of sweetly sensual vocals and dreamy electro pop with a kick for the floor, the ‘Shine’ EP is backed by a pair of exceptional remixes courtesy of cosmic icon Morgan Geist and on-point breakthrough artist of 2012, wAFF.

A-side ‘Shine’ instantly captivates with a wash of soaring synths that accentuate the warm glow of Daniela’s intoxicating voice. Lyrics forming the beating heart of the song along with the melodic bassline groove, this is a record destined to give the crowd that warm fuzzy feeling at a sunrise set. One of NYC’s finest Morgan Geist, aka Storm Queen and one half of Metro Area, bestows his genius in the first ‘Shine’ remix, introducing staccato synths, a pulsing bass beat and later an intense fusion of cosmic chimes, undulating rhythms and popping percussion.

B-side ‘Mystic Flow’ is a more late night affair, building layers of mystical voodoo over the low elastic bassline and punchy textured groove, the vocals imbued with a hypnotic snake charmer quality. Last but by no means least; wAFF’s remix of ‘Shine’ has got something of the Ame classic ‘Rej’ about it. Immersing Daniela’s crystalline vocals in a molten sound bed of psychedelic prog, wAFF knows how to get you tripping.

Digitaria is the project formed by Daniela Caldellas and Daniel Albinati, on the sunny shores of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Seducing Latin America and beyond since

2004 with their blend of romantic electro pop, the duo met Jamie Jones one steamy night in 2012 at Warung nightclub and soon got the Hot Creations boss hooked on their sound. Tracks passed over soon after became the Digitaria/Funkyfat ‘Masochist EP’, a subsequent summer hit, and the rest is history. First release of 2013 was collaboration with the Adana Twins ‘Reaction’ on Jeudi Records, and the Hot Creations ‘Shine EP’ is sure to further mark the duo as a global force of nature.

Produced & mixed by Arthur Russell (he also plays on them) and engineered by Bob Blank in 1985, these three songs were found in Arthur’s archive, and digitally transferred by Audika Records. They were made for Steven Hall solo project for Rough Trade but never released.

“After I moved my production and engineering work from my recently sold Blank Tapes to my old farmhouse in Stamford, Connecticut, some of my first guests were Arthur Russell and Steven Hall, who continued their musical journey by bringing their music to my converted home.

It was strange to see these denizens of the city in my bucolic setting – the music always had a folkie, country feel to it, but was always edged with the city feelings. I picked them up and dropped them off at the small train station about a mile from the house, and recorded onto either my old Studer A80 24 track analog machine or later into the then state of the art Alesis digital machines. The studios all had windows in them, overlooking the nearby woods and wetlands.

Arthur was, as usual, the ringleader who set the mood, always either encouraging or playing. Steven got into ‘the zone’ with sometimes closed eyes and a gentle way with the music; Arthur was the collector of takes and many times after the sessions with Steven I would hear the music go through many permutations as Arthur added ideas and what are now called ‘beats’ to the song fragments and parts laid down. Never satisfied, Arthur would continually run a DAT tape as he worked, capturing hours of attempts to mold the music. Steven was a muse sometimes for Arthur as well, as Steven gave substance to the energy that Arthur put into the music.

Steven came with fully formed musical ideas and songs, and easily performed them in the glassed in booth. Mellow but focused, the music came out in whole pieces.

My role was always to make the flow happen, with the technology, and the place was dominated by the custom built console I had built from Yamaha digital mixers and monitoring from UREI 813 speakers I had sitting on stands in the attic of my old home. As an engineer, you try to fade into the background and let the musical events take the forefront, but I was always able to add my ideas and feelings to the day, as my sounds, mixes, and comments shaped how everyone heard what they were creating. Arthur and Steven always welcomed my input, even tho from time to time it was tinged with attitude, and I would be satisfied with the result while Arthur would push past that and ask for more. Ultimately Steven and Arthur’s vision would prevail of course and there were many magic moments.”

Following acclaimed excursions on Hypercolour (‘Needs You EP’) and Will Saul’s Aus Music (‘Child EP’) last year, George FitzGerald is preparing to make his return to his Hotflush home for the first time since 2011. Premiering in FitzGerald’s debut Radio 1 Essential Mix last month as part of the ‘2013’s Future Stars’ series, ‘Thinking Of You’ is scheduled to drop as a Beaport exclusive on 18th March, with full physical release and accompanying tracks to follow in May.
 
Having displayed his innate understanding of how to craft a musical narrative with the Essential Mix, ‘Thinking Of You’ turns to the darker realms of the dance floor imbued with the same kind of precision-tooled grooves, nuanced melodic touch and emotive shades that have garnered him such praise in the past.
 
The last twelve months have been extremely busy for FitzGerald as he continues to capture the attention of industry heads and fans alike with his refined and emotive homegrown club music. Releasing music on his regular home Hotflush, as well as Will Saul’s Aus Music imprint and the acclaimed Hypercolour stable, not to mention his own burgeoning ManMakeMusic imprint, FitzGerald's flourishing discography continues to grow steadily but impeccably.

2012 was without doubt the breakthrough year for South London Ordnance. In the space of twelve months the 23 year old artist put out three separate 12”s alongside a five track EP, which garnered support from Jamie XX, Scuba, Benji B, Mary Ann Hobbes, Mosca, Claude Vonstroke, Richie Hawtin and more. 

His jungle-advised, finely honed productions also rightly earned him notable mention in several annual end of year roundups including DJ Mag’s Best of British 2012, XLR8R’s 4th Best New Act of 2012 (alongside Disclosure and Karenn), and Time Out UK’s DJs to Watch in 2013. 

With this debut outing on Hotflush Recordings scheduled for March, 2013 is set to be yet another strong year for the young producer.
