There’s no room to argue, Joseph Capriati has enjoyed his finest year to date and his escalation as one the principle profiles in techno knows no boundaries. 

The Napoli-born firebrand has just completed a stunning season in Ibiza as a resident of Marco Carola’s Music On at Amnesia. Anyone who caught him play the main room this season will agree – his special ability to combine an infectious stage presence, with razor sharp DJ skills draws techno fans to dancefloor like bees to a honey pot. No wonder island legend Carola’s handpicked him to perform on 8 separate occasions, more than any other artist this season. 

Combine this momentum with an outstanding 2013 that already saw him headline his first coast-to-coast tour of the US, play a historic 12 hour set at the Metropolis in Napoli, plus headline every major techno festival on the planet, the time couldn’t be better for Capriati to unleash ‘Self Portrait’, his sophomore LP. 

Already ingrained in the consciousness of techno lovers this year thanks to ‘Fratello’ and ‘Awake’ the pair of searing dancefloor slayers that were released in June as the album’s first singles, ‘Self Portrait’ goes deeper than the club stormers the Italian is famed for. Over 11 future-facing tracks, Capriati displays his deft production skill to supersede his reputation for bodyslamming dancefloors. 

Tracks such as ‘Electrolytic’, the album’s atmospheric opener evokes mood with a barrage of steely synths, gritty drums and industrial beats, while ‘Self Portrait’, the typically reflective album title track is an understated ambient gem led by warm trickles of melody that pairs nicely with ‘Naked’ which exhibits the producer’s deft skills for moulding sparse stripped back minimal that kicks along with cheeky vox and shuffling percussion. 

He further reinforces his ability to create addictive club rollers with the quirky, squiggly groover ‘Easy Come Easy Go’, while the masterful ‘Basic Elements’, chugs along with rattling industrial percussion before giving way to a sublime wall of melody that’s just the kind of genius fare that gets his diehard fans raising Italian flags inscribed with ‘JOSEPH CAPRIATI KING OF TECHNO’ regularly at this gig. And with an album this good, who are we to argue?

Can you believe it? Fall of 2014 marks the 20TH ANNIVERSARY of YOSHITOSHI, the seminal record label founded by Deep Dish in 1994. To celebrate, we are bringing the classics back, remastered and with new remixes from an amazing group of heavy hitters from all corners of the dance world.

Given that Yoshitoshi’s roots are ingrained in house music, it’s only fitting to start the #YoshiClassics campaign with Eddie Amador’s “House Music”. A true Yoshitoshi classic released in 1998 that went on to become a global phenomena. The hypnotic rhythm and infectious “Not Everyone Understands House Music” has become the preach anthem for generations of dance music lovers.

Secret Society Sessions is a show broadcasted every Wednesday 6-9pm live from Girth Radio. The studio is conveniently nestled inside an aesthetic bar just one block east of St. Lawrence Market, @Pacific Pacific Junction Hotel (234 King Street East).

This is more than a radio show… it is a social collective for people at play. We invite you for after work drinks, food and games – Pacific Junction Hotel features many amenities including Locally Brewed Beer, an Outdoor Patio, Table Tennis, Pool, Foosball, Arcade Classics and the only real Ice Hockey table in the city!

Our goal is to provide the atmosphere for a regular gathering that revolves around our love for music and the celebration of getting over the hump of the week. Come early, spend a few hours with your friends listening to artistically curated sounds and go home happy, proving that a night out does not necessarily have to be followed by a day in.

Transmit Recordings’ next highly anticipated release comes from who other than the label boss Boris, consisting of the original track and two remixed versions from the great Christian Smith and the Naples born Hollen. Boris original version of “Music Takes Me” is a peak time burner, heavy kicks, chaotic background atmospheres and a bass destined to shake any given dance floor. Christian’s remixed version is a groover, heavy playful bassline and percussive with a tribalistic touch and to conclude the big release Hollen’s remix is closer to the original, making great use of the background atmo’s and introducing a more subtle underground drum work to match his usual style. From early breakout hit "Phat Dope Shit" in 2002 to "Heavy Heart", a new collaboration with Skrillex and Fireboy DML, Dice has always been in the headlines. After his debut album "7 Dunham Place" on his own now long-running and well-regarded Desolat in 2008, came the major label follow-up "Underground Sound Suicide" on Ultra Music with guests like Giggs, Just Blaze, and Neneh Cherry, then the agenda-setting and club-focussed house and techno showcase that was "Love Letters" in 2018. 

Add in tens of EPs on Ovum, Minus, Cocoon, to name a few, and his remixes from everyone from Kevin Saunderson to Moby, Black Coffee to Disclosure, Warren G to Basement Jaxx, Loco Dice has always been at the beating heart of the electronic scene. 

His DJ sets, too, always brim with personality, whether in a small underground basement or on an iconic main stage at some of the world's top festivals like EDC Ultra, Tomorrowland and Coachella to name a few, playing to thousands. He has had era-defining residencies at iconic Ibiza super clubs like Circoloco at DC-10 and on the Amnesia Terrace as well at Space Miami. 

His lockdown move has been to unveil En Coleur, a label reserved exclusively for his own music produced at that time. SB Recordings followed. A new label open to all styles of dance music.

Since day one Loco Dice constantly pushes the boundaries of techno and house music production, from his appearance in 2004 PlayStation2 game "Decks & FX" to cooking up his own ideal fusions of hip hop and electronic music with his FKD side project or writing critically acclaimed runway soundtracks for Italian fashion designer Marcelo Burlon during Men’s Fashion Week in Milan for both FW20 and SS20.

Dice's distinctive fashion sense and strong visual aesthetic manifest in his collaborations with Amsterdam fashion label Daily Paper, pro sports hat purveyors New Era and in his own clothing brand Seran Bendecidos. 

All of this and his longevity prove that Loco Dice is undoubtedly an insatiable creative force most interested in the uncharted territory between genres and styles, the elements that link everything together.
